Seventh Time's A Charm

Seventh Time's A Charm

And so it has happened. Mainstream stores have now added the rolled up jean to their online marketing tactics. While this JCrew pair isn't exactly boyfriend jeans, you can clearly see that if Katie Holmes wears something enough, it catches on.

Here she is (for the 7th time) exiting rehearsals for All My Sons wearing this new look.

I don't know why everyone is making a fuzz from this. I think she looks MUCH bettter in large/rolled up jeans, much more younger (as she is) and laid back.

I just don't get the BAGGYNESS of those pants. It's just SO unflattering; it makes her look chubby, and each time I see a picture of her, I want to holler "PULL UP YOUR PANTS!!" Rolled-up jeans -- whatever. I'm not going to wear them, but I never wore those tapered-leg stovepipe jeans, either. To each her own. I DO love her shoes, though. I'll bet Suri picked them out.

JCrew has had those jeans for a while now. Which just goes to show that Katie Holmes is not a trend setter.

For all we know those could be Tom's pants that she's wearing just for sentimental value and now we've made it a trend! I wouldn't wear it.

God, it's taking me back to 1986 when I wore my pants and jeans just like this. Not a good look to bring back.

Maybe she's trying to draw attention away from her bad haircut? It seems to be working. LOVE the shoes though!

I personally don't like this trend at all. However, I must say that I do like the fact that Katie doesn't give a flying "%&$*" what everyone else is thinking. She is totally playing with us for giving her such a hard time. Good for her.

It's very rare that you see a celebrity in the same outfit twice, so I'm a little perplexed that she keeps wearing these same jeans day after day.

i know, right! i think she's wearing them every day to break us in - before you know it we'll all have stolkhome syndrome and start associating and siding with the jeans! non! VIVA LA RESISTANCE!

Sydney Sydney said:

ok, fashion's fashion, but this is JUST SO BAD! there's nothing flattering about it. the fit of the jcrew ones is cuter, though the excess that the roll creates looks stupid and sort of like something a jester or clown would wear.

She may wear them every day for all I care, those things are bringing very unflattering memories from the 80's. NO ONE can pull those off.

I really don't know what the big deal is. No one is forcing anyone to wear this, who cares if some like it? There have been times I've been working in the yard with my jeans rolled up, and had to go into town like that, maybe *I* started this (not) new trend? (hahaha, just teasing). Anyway, they probably WILL catch on with the younger crowd, we'll just have to get used to it.

Where can I get those shoes? Super cute. Then again, I have a strong affection for anything patent leather. My co-worker makes fun of me but I am addicted. Flats, wedges, stiletto's.

I don't think JCrew all of a sudden saw Katie and decided to start selling those jeans. Stores decide months in advance what to sell.

Katie obviously likes the style. Lord knows how much she paid for those hideous jeans. I'll start the guessing at $200. I wouldn't wear that mess for $75. Some trends should never come back. She should stop playing dress up with Tom's money. It's not make anyone take her seriously. And she looks ridiclous.

just an FYI... I used to work for J.Crew, the rolled up ad ISN'T new and ISN'T a result of Katie Holmes' new look.
They have had those ads for a loooong while.
Everyone ELSE is starting to catch on!

For real this has got to stop! I could handle the skinny jeans and the ballet flats coming back from the 80's but not the "tight roll" jeans!! This is bringing back bad 7th and 8th grade memories BUT back then guys were doing it too (the horror!).

mCa mCa said:

you know, i kind of like that look. not necessarily with the ballet flats, maybe a good pair of flip flops... i think she's adorable, and it seems as though she's becoming her own person again. i looooove the haircut, too. i wish i had the guts to do it, myself!!

Passerbye Passerbye said:

Actually I kinda like it...I'm short, which means I wouldn't have to hem my pants. Yea...I think I do like it!

Ok, I think we all got it: 1. This is not a trend started by her. It was started by J.Crew, and before that, middle school girls in the 80's. Oh, and Banarama...................2. Katie looks more like Tom every day................3. It looks bad with ballerina shoes, or, wait, bad with anything....................4. She has worn this look all week and must be punished...............5. This has been in Vogue before Katie started wearing it.................6. Last: I'm waiting to see if little Suri has some little rolled up jeans, too. ;-)

LOL But seriously, does this mean that the scrunched up socks, sometimes paired with 2 pairs, is gonna make a comeback??? Shoulder pads too?!?!!? Oh please, I don't think I could handle that one!! ^_^

Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy...the fact that they're baggy just makes it look worse. And who said they make her look chubby??? You're whacko!
There is no way that girl could look fat! The baggy jeans just make her look like she's an anerexic twig drowning in a blue sea of denim. Or she's bargain hunting at the thrift store and can't find any jeans that fit. Seriously...
Anyway, I am all for a flat rolled jean half way up the calf with a cute pair of flip flops or something. I never wear my pants rolled up in such a sloppy fashion unless I'm planning on cooling my feet off in shallow water...or mopping the floor...yeah, she pretty much looks like she's getting ready to clean the kitchen floor.

As a fashion trend....
Survey Says:

Thumbs down!
It's too much of a last minute look that flatters absolutely nothing on the figure, and appeals absolutely ZERO to the eye.

As a normal person who doesn't buy into trendy fashion more than 30% of the time...
Survey Says:

Thumbs up!
As someone else said, she could care less what anyone thinks, so good for her!

or yes maybe soon we'll see Posh sporting the same boyish baggy jeans to...??? paris anyone??
