Madonna Still Trying To Adopt Baby Girl From Malawi

Madonna Still Trying To Adopt Baby Girl From Malawi

Madonna is supposedly on track to make another bid to adopt a little girl from Malawi. Last year she tried to bring home a child named Mercy James, but attempts were blocked at the last minute by the girl's father.

To be honest, I'm surprised she would try to adopt another child from the same country seeing as how David's adoption was filled with drama from the get go. But, I'm guessing that having that sweet little boy in her arms is worth all the trouble. :)

I may get flamed for this but... I know that every child deserves a good home and there are plenty in this world who need one but am I the only one concerned for children who are adopted by Celebs (especially when they have a few of their own)? I know they can provide a life for these kids most of us can only dream of but is it really stable? for example: the paparazzi everywhere you turn, being raised my a nannny most of the time, and being in the public eye and not able to have a more quiet childhhood. I am a little concerned that adoption agencies allow this. However, I am sure these Celebs pay big money to adopt, but they cannot treat innocent children from third world contries like all of the other possesions they can simply buy, and that is what it seems to havbe turned into. Granted, there are plenty of celebs who have adopted that do not concern me at all such as Cheryl Crow for example but situations like Madonna and Angelina Jolie cause me a little concern for these little ones... Flame if you want... But I am interested to know other people's thoughts on this....

You are definitely entitled to your opinion on this matter. I am pretty indifferent to the adoption trend with celebs although maybe as someone who has never had children I just can't empathize at all. I do agree with you in the sense that for some reason I am more comfortable with the Sheryl Crow adoption than the Brangelina situation. There is something about the Brangelina adoptions that seems amiss to me. I can't put my finger on it. It almost seems impulsive. I also find that they tend to advertise their good deeds which causes me to think "are they really selfless good deeds?" Anyhoo, just my thoughts and they will probably differ from many people who see it from another perspective.

I am from asia and adoption is not popular here.
If somebody adopted a kid, they would not tell the truth till they grow up,
because it would hurt their feelings and a few kids commit suicide when they realise it.
When I lived in Canda, I was so surprised to see a white couple with black kids. It never happens in my country.

i think its wonderful, but am surprised at wanting to adopt children whose parents are living, and are against the adoption (unless they were abusive). there are so many orphans, better to find a child where there won't be an issue of breaking apart a family.

She's trying to stay relavent she sees Angelina doing it and now Madonna is all into adopting. Why wasn't she into adopting before She was so set onhaving her own kids she pratically took out an ad for a dad cuz she was worrying about her clock ticking and now at 50 she wants to adopt she's phony.

Didn't she learn the first time that you probably shouldn't adopt a child from a country that has rules/laws against outside adoption? It's kind of presumptuous for her to do it again. Something that clearly any ordinary person would not get away with.

Or did they change that rule?

I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but I think Madonna is nothing but a poseur. This is one definition: " a person who pretends to be what he or she is not : an affected or insincere person". To me, that describes Madonna perfectly. I do NOT think she's sincere in any way at all, I think she just wants constant power and attention. She is not a stable person, what makes anyone think she will consistently be a good, unselfish, caring mother? I agree that she never seemed to discuss adoption until Angelina and Brad became so known for it. She has spent her life trying to emulate others, but this is one that has such an effect on others, she should not be allowed to do what she wants just because she is rich and famous.

Why is she so obsessed with black people?

Why can't this bitch adopt orphans? she seems to want to break this family apart after having been told NO more than once talk about getting your way! I hope that family hold their ground for the sake of that little girl. Who the hell adopts and then returns them a few years later? is she going to trade her in for a newer model in 4 years? that's what it sounds like she wants to do.

TO JUST ME--you hit the nail on the head perfectly!!! Madonna has received A LOT of BAD press lately. SOLUTION? Adopt again! Why, isn't that what Angelina did when she was accused of breaking up Brad's marriage? Madonna has never had ONE original thought in her life. She just jumps onto every trend--but does it BIGGER--so people will forget that someone else had done it WAY before her. Once a fake poseur, ALWAYS a fake poseur.

It is worrying that a number of celeb adopted kids from overseas already have a parent/family. It would seem more logical. and more in the interests of a child with no parents or family, to adopt an orphan. Are the rules different? It really starts to look like the enormous amounts of money celebs have enables them to bend rules and get around red tape that "ordinary" folks wishing to adopt overseas could not. Usually there are rules regarding age, stability of couple (including marital status in conservative countries), health background and other potential siblings. It is questionable whether these celebs would qualify on a number of these grounds, yet they still seem to be able to "buy" their child. Obviously money speaks, and the publicity gained speaks even louder.

I wonder if she actually discusses her adoption plans with her husband? I'm sure she wears the trousers in this marriage. Remember when she had a fit when people didn't call her Mrs. Ritchi? Oh and remember when she demanded everyone call her by her new Kabbalah name ... what was it again, Rachel? Madonna is so annoying, I can't think of a woman more annoying than her. (Maybe Ashlee Simpson ;-) LOL)
