Happy 50th Birthday Madonna

Happy 50th Birthday Madonna

Happy birthday Madonna! The icon turned 50 today. I would comment on what age she really looks... but what does that mean anymore? 50 really is the new 30. Which is great for me because that means I am barely 10 years old. There's a lifetime of fun waiting to be had.

I never had a problem with the milestones. Ever. Even... 30. In fact, when I turned 30, I felt rather accomplished and proud of my new badge.

How were you at 30? 40? 50? 60? Did it matter?

It doesn't to Madonna. While the actress didn't give a quote, her long time publisist Liz Rosenberg said the following to the NY Times.

''I'm sure she's happy to be an inspiration to women and men of any age,'' Rosenberg wrote in an e-mail. But the birthday, she noted wryly, ''is not quite the benchmark for her as it seems to be in the media, who have been talking about her 50th since she turned 40!''

Well you cant say she looks good for her age since she isnt aging naturally or gracefully for that matter. So far I have been lucky and not had any issues with my bday. I know lots of people who really struggle tho.

I'll be turning 30 in about five weeks...honestly, I am a little freaked out about how I'm going to feel about it when I wake up that morning. There is a huge part of me that is happy to let my twenties go - seems like I've spent the last decade trying to set the foundation for my life and make good decisions, but I never seem happy or confident with anything I do. I want my thirties to be the party my twenties should've been! I want to approach life with a completely different attitude, maybe older and wiser, but at the same time more care free and self assured. We'll see.... IMHO, Madonna IS and SHOULD BE an inspiration to any woman her age or nearing her age. She takes great care of herself and doesn't let age (or anyone's stupid opinion) hold her back. I think she's aging well, maybe it's just me. I think people have always speculated whether or not she'd be "toned down" by this age. My guess is, no! Seems like she's constantly proving that point. And I say hell yeah to that! Women in general have got to take this aging thing by the horns (I say to myself as well), the same way men do. It's often said that women don't age as well as men. That is becoming more and more untrue as our American culture evolves. Although I have to say, Cher has been a true pinoneer on that front, plastic surgery aside. I also give kudos to actresses and celebrities like Goldie Hawn, Christy Brinkely (how fabulous does she look!), Iman, Jane Seymour, and so many others who are just aging so beautifully. Even if they have a nip and a tuck here and there...good for them!

I'm with you, Vera. I see each birthday as another year I have survived in this crazy world! As many obstacles as I've faced in my 28 years, when I turn 30, I'm going to be like, "Hooray, I made it!!"

At 20 I felt so grown-up. At 30 it didn't phase me at all, and in fact I wondered what the big deal was. Forty was a major milestone for me, but a positive one. I actually felt that I was fortunate to have lived that long and was quite satisifed with my accomplishments thus far. Fifty...is only months away and truthfully I can't believe I've lived so long! lol But I can see a whole new phase of life ahead and living has really only just begun. You really only are as old as you feel. And yes I agree about the 50 being the new 30, but only if you look after yourself. People are stunned when they find out what my age actually is. The average guess is between 38-41...and I'll take it!
