They did it! Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi are now blissfully married. Over the weekend, the couple officially became a unit in front of 19 of their closest friends and family while both wearing Zac Posen.
"Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were married tonight in an intimate ceremony at their home in Los Angeles.
Congrats! I just love Ellen to pieces and I am so happy that she has found the one.

I look for them to start having family soon. Not sure how that would happen, but I think Ellen has said that Portia would def be the one to carry the baby, not her. So it doesn't sound like they would be adopting. Anyway congrats to them.

It is legal in California now. and I think one or two other states but I cannot recall. Their marrige will be legally recognized (in CA that is, just not other states, unless it becomes legal nationwide)
It just goes to show that if someone with all the friends and associates they both have can get married with only 19 people and not turn it into a circus anyone can !

I think it's awesome. I love them both and I'm so happy that they're taking advantage of the fact that it's legal for same sex couples to get married here in California (http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-gaymarriage16-2008may16,1,4027698.story) Anonymous poster who said it's pathetic and disgusting, I'm sorry that you feel that way, I really am. But being that we do live in a free country and it's written in the constitution that this country is about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, there is no reason why gay people should not be able to marry each other. Everyone has the right to create their own happiness and no one else should be allowed to dictate what should or should not make them happy. Good luck finding your own happiness.

Ellen is one o fmy favorite comedians/actresses and deserves so much happiness. I am still happily amazed that this is possible for them or any gay couple in California. Woot! Hopefully this trend will spread. It's allll about the looove. - Mandi
trend hah? marriage is a major block of society and you are talking about lesbian trends. this is how brainless people approach subjects. the truth is this IS a trend, something to mud the waters, haze the air while dirty politicians stuff their pockets and throw down gay issues (non issues) so that people will keep fighting over it instead of directing attention to corruptions in our government
