Christina Applegate Is Cancer Free!

What absolutely amazing news for Christina Applegate. Just a little over a month after being diagnosed with breast cancer, she’s now been declared cancer free! In an interview with Good Morning America, she said,

"I’m clear. Absolutely 100 percent clear and clean. It did not spread — they got everything
out, so I’m definitely not going to die from breast cancer."

She underwent a double mastectomy and is now struggling with the emotional toll. Christina will undergo reconstruction surgeries in the upcoming months.

"Sometimes, you know, I cry. And sometimes I scream. And I get really
angry. And I get really upset, you know, into wallowing in self-pity
sometimes. And I think that it’s all part of the healing."

I’m so happy she’s in the clear…what a relief for her!

Her honesty and grace continue to set her apart. I wish her the absolute best. In my opinion she is more beautiful for having glimpsed her mortality and fought her way back. What a year she has had!

Wow as everyone else said a double masectomy ! You dont generally do that if its just a lump now do you?

I read this on the cover of a tabloid magazine while standing in line at the grocery store the other day and I thought it was their usual lies. As a matter of fact I think it was the Enquirer. They seem to be getting things right on lately. Maybe I should pay more attention. They were right about Edwards. Anyway I had to have a biopsy last year and that was scary enough and I am much older than Christina. Mine turned out to be a calcium deposit. It sounds like she is going to be just fine. A good friend of mine has had a long going battle with breast cancer, probably 15 years. Her daughters are in their 20′s and they have to be checked once a year as they have the cancer gene as well. I think they have both decided against having a family. They said that ugly disease is going to stop with them.

She is BRCA1 positive which means she has the genetic form of breast cancer. If you test positive for BRCA 1 you can pretty much count on reoccurances and continually having to fight the disease because it will come back. My friend had bilateral mastectomies at 29 for the same thing. She continues to be cancer free almost 8 years later because of it.

this really touches my heart. In many ways. Im so happy for her, as she is just like my aunt. My aunt said to her doctor “What good is one boob anyways? TAKE THEM BOTH” She knew the statistics. My aunt is one of the strongest women i know and a big hero to me. I hope Christina’s healing is easy for her and she remains cancer free AND I hope she enjoys her “cute boobs” ;) What a brave lady.

I just read the article where she says her mother had BC and she has the gene so yes that makes much more sense why should would choose to go that route. It just shocked me since there was no mention of that when the news broke that she had breast cancer. It sounds like shes trying to keep her humour thru it all which is one thing she will need ! I laughed when she said her boobs will be the best perky ones in the nursing home when shes old and couldnt help but think probably not since so many people have implants these days and if she stays in Hollyweird then for sure she wont be alone in the chest department lol

I wish her the best. It must be hard to be a young woman and to have a double mastectomy-breasts, after all are a sign of femininity. I applaude her for being strong and open about this silent killer and taking radical but necessary steps to free herself.

  9. Vic says:

So, so happy she has such good news!!!!!! Will keep her in my prayers!!!!!

  10. greeeneyedwhwoman says:

I’m surprised that she told the press that she had a double mastectomy. I applaud her for doing what she needed to do to stay healthy, but I imagine it’s going to be a roller coaster for her while dealing with this. She’s one of my favorite celebrities….so funny and down to earth. I wish her nothing but the best.

  12. Miss_M says:

That’s excellent news and I wish her all the best.

Everyone is so happy for her, but I feel just AWFUL for her. This has to be sooooooooo hard to deal with. I am glad she is cancer-free, but wow, this is going to be a long, emotional road.

  17. LN says:

What a strong inspirational woman. I wish her all the best. She is one of my favorites.

  18. Mr. T says:

Women need to get screened once a year. My wife does and thank goodness for that. If a woman does not get a breast scan once a year she is at risk.

  19. Anonymous says:

    how wonderful!! God bless her:)

  20. gia says:

wow, i didnt know it was that serious for her! i thought it was more of a case of her having had a biopsy & it being treated early…she didnt do any chemo or radiation in addition to surgery?
i am happy she is healthy again.

  21. Riviera says:

Wow, a double masectomy. I can’t even begin to imagine what a rollercoaster ride of emotions it is. On the one hand you’re relieved that the cancer is gone, but on the other hand you have to deal with your new physical appearance. But what counts is that she’s cancer free, that’s the most important part.
