Ricky Martin Becomes A Father To Twins!

Holy Moly! Ricky Martin just became a daddy... to TWINS no less. The singer's rep has just announced that the children were delivered through "gestational surrogacy". Don't expect Ricky to walk around town with his new babies. He promises to stay out of the lime light for a while to enjoy getting to know them.
"The children, delivered via gestational surrogacy, are healthy and
already under Ricky's full-time care. Ricky is
elated to begin this new chapter in his life as a parent and will be
spending the remainder of the year out of the public spotlight in order
to spend time with his children."

Basically the mother just handed the babies to him. I am surprised that he did this, well, not really.
I still don't understand.... who is the mother?? is he the father?? is some kind of adoption?! I don't undestand... but I really don't care about Ricky Martin... I only hope that the babies are fine!

I'm also LOLing about "taking a year out of the spotlight." Um......he's a total has-been. Has he been in the spotlight since he was living the vida loca? All arrows point to "no."
Ricky Martin is very very famous to hispanic people in south america and latin america, and Spain. He has a great career singing in spanish. He is very talented. You should check his music out. He is a huge deal to hispanic people. He has been famous since he was 15 years old. I admit his career singing in english was very very short and cheesy. So stop laughing and get cultured. You should read a bio on his laugh, and stop listening to country music.
I agree, Alexis. I lived in Mexico for a long time and he is a big star. His spanish music is beautiful and complex; I love his duet with La Mari from Chambao. But who cares about that? Aside from his music career, he has done SO MUCH to publicize the plight of children being used in the sex trade. Not that I would expect you to follow Latin music among the Latin community, but he has NEVER left the spotlight!!! He is not a has-been in most of the world, only here, where folks like the Jonas Bros. can become major stars.... LMAO!!!

It sounds like a surrogate donated her eggs and they used his sperm, so the kids are biologically his. I'm very surprised at this news (and anxious to hear the kids' names). There haven't been reports about a partner for him (regardless of whether it's a man or a woman) in a long time, so I assume he's doing it on his own. Just, wow.
The notable difference with Clay is that he and the mother are stated as the parents and the ones to do the upbringing. More power to them both, really, as obviously the children were wanted and more than likely will be loved, and well provided for, which is MUCH more than many get in this life.
Congrats to them all. And since it's really their lives, who the hell cares? No is being asked to handle the business for them.

Gestational surrogacy is an anonymous donor eggs and probably Ricky Martin's little swimmers. The surrogate would have no relation to the children. Basically, it's a Rent-A-Womb.
No doubt in my mind the man is gay now. Congratulations to him!

Gestational Surrogacy is when the eggs are NOT the surrogates, they are usually an embryo formed by a married couple but in Ricky's case, probably himself and a chosen egg donor ( no doubt a hottie like him).
Traditional surrogacy is when the surrogate is carrying a child using her own eggs (ie, Michael Jackson's Debbie Row etc).
GS is becoming more popular and for infertile couples i think its brilliant!

He used an egg donor, probably anonymous. The RE (infertility DR) makes embryos in a lab then transfers them via IVF to a gestational carrier. No she did NOT just hand the baby over, it was never her baby to begin with.
A LOT of single parents, gay and straight, use this to become parents. There's nothing wrong with it, everyone deserves a chance at a family.
Ok, I know this is going to sound stupid - but WHY is everyone so convinced he is gay?? I have never seen any proof, I've just always heard people calling him gay.
Regardless, he is totally hot. Remember when he was on General Hospital?

Why is this weird? People have been using this procedure for ages. A woman gets pregnant, delivers the baby and hands him down. That's it. Congrats to the happy father!
