Katie Holmes' Broadway Show Not Selling Well
Well, first of all, let me say that this story has already been denied by the publicist for Katie Holmes' Broadway show, All My Sons. But really, what are they going to say? Nobody would ever publicly announce, "Hey, our tickets sales are in the crapper!"
Ticket sales for the show, which stars Katie Holmes and Patrick Wilson,
are thus far “definitely off from what the production hoped,” according
to a source close to “Sons.”
But, don't blame the economy!
“You can’t say it’s the economy,” says the source, “because there are shows, like ‘Mamma Mia’ that are selling out.”
Maybe the role is one people don't want for Katie.
“It’s not that Katie’s bad in the part. She’s good enough. The
producers are just getting the feeling people still want to view Katie
as sweet little Joey Potter.”
What do you think? Do people want to see Katie as still sweet and innocent? Or are ticket sales down because being associated with Tom Cruies has totally damaged her image? Or maybe the show just sounds boring...who knows!

Personally, I'd be afraid of her wearing her pegged jeans on stage as some sort of costume. It's bad enough that we have to see them in photographs, but to see in them in person?! *shudder!*
I dont know. I think she is devoid of a personality and I think thats what ruined her career. She let a bigge, insaner star dictate her life. She essentially looks like she did it for the money and her head is huge and shes not approachable. She used to be approachable. Now shes an old woman in a young woman's body. Ofcourse people don't want to see that.

I agree guilty by association. I used to like Katie but now she's just I don't know boring? old? definitely not fascinating enough to draw a crowd. I don't think she has big head though more like she's not allowed to think or say without having it fed to her.
Oh well sucks to be her or not :)
Simple, she is a terrible actor! I tried to watch her in a couple of movies that got rave reviews, but she is so 2 demensional in her characters it was pitful. I have seen better performances at grade school plays!!!

I wonder if it is even true, but if so, makes no sense. There has got to be a lot of curiosity about her, and Dianne Wiest and John Lithgow are both amazingly talented and well-respected.
am i missing something...isn't it summer in NY?? Why is she always in longsleeve shirts, long pants, and scarves....isn't she hot?? I'm hot just looking at her

I think sales suck because the show sounds boring. She's presenting herself as a "serious actress" in doing Broadway, which is cool and not an unfamiliar move for a performer, but she picked the wrong part. She should have done Batman and saved the stage for later.

aren't they charging ridiculous amount of money for the tickets? Like $250 plus or something. That might be the reason why tickets are not selling.
people are just getting very tired of Katie Holmes. her sounds-so-fake love story with Cruise and her sudden fame just thanks to her being that creepy guy's wife... well we dont give a shit. Katie dont have much talent anyway...

I think if she had married Cruise and kept her personality things would be a bit different (though there would be some that still held it against her). I think what has turned everyone off about her is her complete and total change of personality. She went from this well spoken bubbly likeable personality to acting (and dressing) like someone middle aged. Her interviews are limited to 5 descriptive words and are always the same. It's like someone jerked her personality out and put a different one in, and thats profoundly disturbing. I personally would LOVE to see Lithgow cause he's an amazing actor, but Im not really interested in seeing her. She's an OK actor, but it's her personal life that turns me off. Just my opinion.

Tom and Katie are too out there. No one takes them seriously playing characters because they're too outlandish in their personal lives.
I wouldnt see it just because of the Tom Cruise factor... Shes become bland and boring since meeting him. Shes changed and shes not 60 in a 20something body.
i think people don't want to see someone succeed who has anything to do with scientology or tom cruise.

I think sales are low cause
1. Sales have been down for almost all shows in the past 10 months, not just this one.
2. She isn't exactly an accomplished actress, yet.
Definitely because of the Cult leader. The whole world mocks them now, and she's not actually known for being a great actor.
Sweet little Joey Potter looked like a girl anyway. Today, Kattie looks like she could play one of the sons in "All My Sons." It sort of looks like she is hanging herself with that scarf.

She is a happy and sweet lady. Also beautiful. Kudos to her for being calm and graceful with all this annoying photogs following her everyday. Its not just a large group of them but some people join in the madness too. Why compare Arthur Miller to Mama Mia? its like comparing Farewell to Arms by Hemingway to Hairspray. Its sad to see many people esp youngins not caring and knowing Arthur Miller's works but flock to trash like Sex and the City.

This is hogwash when nothing was accurate when it comes to TomKat rumors. This is old rumors that began since Katie was announced to take part in Broadway. The good ole double standards for this two. The flops of other actors and actresses fly below the radar but when its Tom and Katie its headlines all over as if its the end of the world. Good journalism are so yesteryears when today rags are sources for news.
It could work either way for Katie. Julia Roberts was jeered by critics but her play sold well. Jen Garner cheered by critics but her play didnt sell so well. How sad for some of the media baiting Katie to be nude and have sexual plays to lure people. When Katie does that its when I quit being her fan. Arthur Miller will appeal to the older demographics and for a factoid: Broadway has been struggling not only this year but since 9/11.
