Keira Knightley Angry Over Princess Diana Comparisons

The trailer for Keira Knightley's new movie, The Duchess is comparing her character to Princess Diana and she's not happy about it!

The trailer for The Duchess
, a new film about the aristocrat Georgiana Spencer
and her adulterous life, shows a clip of the Princess juxtaposed with the
title character and accompanied by the words: "The two were related by
ancestry and united by destiny". A voice over adds: "History
repeats itself."

Keira said,

"I am
Georgiana. I am not Diana. The film is not about Diana."

And the movie's writer, Amanda Foreman said,

"The marketing people probably thought the only way they could get young
popcorn-eating brigade to see this film was if they made some comparison
with Diana. But they did not need to and should not have done it."

Do you think Keira has good reason to be worked up? It must be annoying to feel like the trailer for your movie doesn't accurately portray what it's about, and is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. It's also sad to see memories of Princess Diana in that way. Imagine how mad people would be if Heath's death were portrayed like that.

She seems like she's always angry over something. Always scowling at the camera, trout pout stuck out, and never a pleasant word for anyone. Eat some bread, honey. Carbs are your friend.

I am with you on this one. I want to, once, feel like this girl is actually enjoying the millions she is gathering instead of being cynical and dark about it all.

yeah, I'd be ticked, too. When Diana has nothing to do with this movie - mention of her has no place in the advertising of it.

I agree that Heath Ledger had nothing to do with this article. How can you compare the WORK and LIFE of Princess Diana to a Hollywood Actor that just happened to die by overdose ... i understand you need writing material but stay focus on what the subject is.

Okay, I thought you were innocently comparing two famous peoples' untimely deaths. I did not freak about it. What I would freak about though, is if I made a movie, and then my role was used to further exploit Diana's death. Read: I am totally behind Keira, although I am not really a fan of hers by any means.

Nothing new when Keira is always whiny...

No, I agree with her. That is not what the movie is about, so they should not advertise it that way. Otherwise, people watch the movie with false expectations, and don't appreciate it for the actual story line.

She's right, that's just cheap PR. I love her shoes by the way, they look fab.
