Dana Delaney Has Turned Down Some Amazing Roles

Ouch! That has to sting a little bit. Dana Delaney has turned down two roles that went on to become uber popular. She said no to the part of Carrie in Sex and the City before the role went to Sarah Jessica Parker, and then she also said no to the part of Bree in Desperate Housewives. So when D.H. contacted her again, this time for the part of Katherine Mayfair, she jumped right on it!
"When they first asked me to play Bree, I thought it was too similar to
a role I'd just done, so I turned it down. Then it was a huge hit and I
had moments of, 'what have I done?'"
She also talks a little bit about her character,
"She finds it hard to be vulnerable and once her secret is revealed you
see why she is so damaged. By the end of the series, people were coming
up to me and saying, 'I love you', you're my favourite housewife', and
that's good. It means I'm doing my job.''
And she and Marcia Cross have a great time on set.
"Marcia and I have a great time together,'' Dana says. "We were
friends before the show and we just giggle. She makes faces that are so
funny, it's very hard to keep a straight face."
UGH. I can't believe she turned down those two roles! Although, I can't even imagine SATC without SJP. Anyways, there's obviously nothing Dana can do about it now, but still...it has to be hard not to look back and want to kick yourself!

I like her but I'm not entirely too sure how popular Sex in the City would have been with her in the main role. Script is important but so are the actors.

IF SHE SIGNED ON TO BE CARRIE IT WOULD NOT BE THE SAME SATC WE ALL KNOW AND LOVE. SAME WITH DESPERATE. EACH CHARACTER MAKES THE SHOW WHAT IT IS. HER ADDED CHEMISTRY MAY HAVE THROWN THE ENTIRE CREATIVE BALANCE OFF.

I agree with the above posters. I dont' think there would've been as huge of a spark for SATC. I really like Dana but SJP was THE Carrie. Maybe it's harder to see anyone else because it's all we know but still.... LOL

looks like the fashion police forgot one.
I've never been a fan of Dana's, something about her turns me off. My husband loves "Tombstone" (She and Kurt Russell star), and I just want to slap the constant smirk off her face. :-D Anyway, I think she would have been a terrible Carrie. I could see her in the Samantha role, though.

Marcia cross can make faces? interesting.
She could NEVER have been Carrie! wtf?????
I'm with everyone else on this, she simply is not Carrie Bradshaw. While there may be some actresses who could have pulled this role either, her? Never!

I watched her last night in "Masquerade" and that movie is 20 years old. She looks like she has aged maybe 10 years. She looks fantastic.

Yeah- I don't believe she turned down the role of Carrie one bit. Darren Star went after SJP from day one.
she would have been an okay carrie but she would have never been as good as SJP she just made the film worth watching!
also i she had taken on the role of bree it would have been oh so differebt - we wouldn't see the bree we love and know today!
but she did do one good thing or maybe three!!!
rejected carries role
rejected brees role
accepted katherines role!!!!
go dana at least she did the right thing in the end cause now we have 2 superb tv series and/films that we have all come to know and love!!!!!!!!!!!!!
