Matthew McConaughey’s mom has a new book on shelves called I Amaze Myself.And judging by some of the quotes from it, I think we can now safely say we know where Matthew’s free spirit style came from. 
Kay McConaughey revealed that Matt’s dad, Jim McConaughey died while having sex.
“On Monday mornings, he and I often said goodbye by making love. But one day, all of a sudden, it just happened.I knew that something was wrong, because I didn’t hear anything
from him. Just nothing," she says. "But it was just the best way to go!”
And she made sure that the EMT’s carried him out of the house nude.
“I was just so proud to show off my big old Jim McConaughey – and his gift.”

So to everyone who thinks that old people having sex is gross: Will it be gross when you are old? What is the age at which people should quit having sex in order to avoid being “gross”? Would you guys be as repulsed by this story had it been told by and about someone in their 20s or 30s? I hope when I am old I still enjoy sex, and I am not sure what makes the idea so repulsive to some.
I didn’t comment on the age issue (I’m 40, so no youngster), but I still think this is something that should be private. Is nothing sacred anymore? As a society, we’ve all become so numb to everything, because anything goes. And trust me, I’m no prude, I just don’t need laughs so bad that I would discuss something so personal and give up all illusions of dignity. And I would hope if I passed away, my husband would not turn it into a joke.

Hey, I know old people have sex, I just DON’T wanna hear about it. That’s my point. And when I’m plowing the back 40 with my old man, 20+ years from now (hell, even NOW!) you won’t hear me talking about it to ANYONE. It’s called having class.

No one has said it was gross for old people to have sex. What everyone is saying is…it’s gross that Matthew’s mother had to announce the way he died to the world.
Why would I want to know that? Not everything is interesting for other people.
We plug into CNN and see attrocities taking place and people dying…and you guys are telling me that this is gross with TMI! 2 grown adults making love and dying in each others arms.
Give me a break! It’s a great way to go, and obviously if she is sharing the story, she knows her husband would approve.

I have to agree (somewhat) with Ellie. I read this story years ago and thought, what a gross old woman. I mean, I think it’s okay to share this type of story amongst friends and family…maybe….but I dunno, I guess I’d be pretty embarrassed if it were my mom telling the world. My boyfriend’s dad always tells the story of his father (boyfriend’s grandfather) who had suffered a stroke while making love to my boyfriend’s grandmother, when they were in their 70′s. Kinda grosses me out.
That’s exactly how I want to go.
