Keira Knightley Can Make Or Break A Friendship

Recently, Keira Knightley responded to a quote from British newspaper The Guardian, which read: "If you want to befriend a woman, ask her the question: ‘What do you think of Keira Knightley?’ Can you believe that question?! Imagine how you would feel reading that if you were Keira. The Atonement actress replied,
In the resulting torrent of bile and loathing, you will bond. I’m doing a good thing for women then."
Keira then continued her thought and said that women can be manipulative.
"If you put yourself in the public forum, it’s what you put yourself up for
. I don’t need to read it.
"Manipulation is something women do a lot
. Women get obsessed with other women - love them or hate them
. That line is very easy to cross."
That is so very true isn't it? You can see it on this site alone when two names are brought up. Suddenly a flood of readers chime in tearing those actresses down or protecting her from the crowd.

She's got a point there.

Aniston and Jolie? Or Jolie and Spears? I would say there are more than two. But yes, team Jen or team Angelina are the most obvious on most boards.

I honestly don't understand the overwhelming hatred for Kiera. She's TOO SKINNY, yes, but she's not prancing around a beach showing off her ribcage, and she's also sort of bemoaned her skinnyness in public. I don't think she ENJOYS it. She's a fine young actress who picks interesting films -- blockbusters and indie stuff. I don't understand people who claim she's a terrible actress. I think she's great! I LOVED her in the newest Pride and Prejudice, for instance. She's opinionated, but I don't begrudge her that. She's never released an album, a fashion line, or perfume, or any of those other obnoxious extracurricular things that other actresses have done. I can understand why people dislike many actresses, but Kiera REALLY strikes a chord with so many people, and I have no clue why.

i`m so with you on that one (not that i ever was against what you ever said !! paris hilton forever ) but yeh people are mean with her and she`s such a gifted actress and an outspoken intelligent person they should just put their focus on other people than her what is wrong with her ??!! don`t get it .. anyway have a nice day ern!
so true
I never dislike her but she's always negative and complaining about everything all the time. I think that what turn people off - it's mainly her attitude - she seem very ungrateful and bitchy. I think she's a fine actress and quite pretty and yes she does have a point about women being manipulative.
Exactly, when you live a fortunate life like she obviously does but you're acting like the whole world lies on your shoulders, it's hard to be not judgmental. But what i'll never understand how people can be so into someone they've never met, like those stupid Brangelina lovers and haters.

I like her. She seems to have a no b.s. attitude, and she isn't ashamed of it. And I do like her movies.

I love KK. I think she's intelligent, she works hard, and she has the potential to be one of the greats of her day. So far so good, she's on the right track.

I've never understood why she invokes such a strong response from people. I agree with Ernestine, Sweet Kiddo and operaghost that she is SO talented, she is intelligent and quite beautiful. I don't find her whiny or bitchy, she is honest. Pure and simple. It seems like the people who find her bitchy read tone in what she is quoted saying and if you've ever seen her interviewed live, that tone is not there.
I don't even think she is too skinny, I just think she's built that way. I had a friend in college who was 5'11" and 110lbs. She couldn't gain weight no matter what she tried and she hated it.
BTW, I think the two people Vera was talking about are Angelina Jolie and Katherine Heigl.

Wow, that really reads like rambling since you can't separate paragraphs in your post. Yikes.
Well, I saw her live in interviews and maybe it's just my perception (or you and I saw different interviews) but boy does she came across as snotty. Additionally, if every second word you use is "f***" one doesn't seem to be the most intelligent, does one?

The use of expletives doesn't make me think she's unintelligent. Obviously there are better words that can be chosen; swearing is just lazy more than anything else. I swear myself, more often than I care to admit, and I don't think of myself as stupid, by any means. We may have seen different interviews, but then it's easy to think of Brits, in general, as coming off as snotty when they speak, isn't it?
Well, that's the thing. I am from England ;-).

Then you've probably seen far more interviews with her than I have, so I'll defer to you. I just haven't had a problem with her brash honesty - probably because many of my friends are the same way. Personally, I don't find Brits snotty AT ALL, so there's that too.
omg! i love keira! she beautiful and very talented..anyone who says otherwise...is jealous!

Can we all stop with the "jealous" crap! Just because someone doesn't care for a certain celebrity does not make them jealous. Maybe if they disliked EVERY attractive celebrity but that's not usually the case.
And before you start in at me, I actually do enjoy Keira Knightley so no, I'm not jealous of her.
INO is also guilty of this crime. The bias on certain actresses are obvious and its evident which actress INO favors or not.
