Amy Winehouse Is An Inspiration To Kid Rock

Kid Rock has found inspiration in an odd place… through Amy Winehouse’s music. Kid says her sound is making him bring out his old Motown records again and believes it will inspire future music.

"The only thing I’ve been listening to lately is Amy Winehouse.
She’s got me into all that old school soul thang. Her album is so great, it’s made me go through all my old Stax and Motown records again. I’d really like to add a little of that flavor to my music.

"Hip-hop’s turned into bad pop music. People don’t believe in half of the current rappers and especially don’t believe in what they have to say. No one’s really a killer or a gangsta. That’s why I’m singing more."

Does that mean that Kid is trying to fulfill the quota of gangsta in the industry?

That’s not how I read it. What he is saying is that the rappers posing as gangstas and thugs are just wannabes, and no one believes them or their music because it’s all just posing. He’s saying he wants to move away from rap because he is not posing, he’s real, so he’s singing more as opposed to rapping.

The only thing I loathe more than your average Kid Rock song is “Sweet Home Alabama,” and he’s managed to COMBINE THOSE TWO THINGS. Good GOD, he SUCKS!

Ohhh, I love him! LOL, and I love the new summer song! I do agree with what he says about music. I don’t listen to many kinds (I’m a country fan BIG TIME)! I do like it when he sings though, he has a weirdly soothing voice to me. Just this morning I was listining to “Picture” by him and Sheryl Crow.

Oh, and it’s nice that someone was talking about Wino without bringing up her issues.

I like him. I’m not a big fan of his earlier rap stuff, but the country/rock stuff he’s doing these days is right up my alley. And I’ve seen him in interviews, he knows his musical history and has a lot of respect for it. I think he fits in well with the country and rock set, unlike other people who try to hop into those genres to make a quick buck.
