Katie Holmes Embracing The Fall

Katie Holmes Embracing The Fall

I have a real question for INO readers. I'm going to Fashion Week in a few days and I need to wear comfortable shoes. Comfortable shoes for me are either boots or flats. I've been searching around town for nice flats and haven't been successful. SO, I'm either going to wear boots or heels and heels are an impossibility because I am going to be working from 9am to 10pm each day. There is no way I can do it in heels. But some of my boots are so broken in and so comfortable that I CAN pull an a'll-dayer' in my knee highs.

So, here is the question - it's not cold enough to whip out the boots yet. BUT, so many celebrities like Katie Holmes are already embracing the Fall styles even though it is still summer weather. I can only imagine that a ton of people in the tents are going to do the same. At least... I think. I just don't want to be the ONLY person in boots.

What do you think? If you were in my situation, would you wear boots? Kill yourself in heels for three days? Or just wear flats and not try to dress up too much?

I personally would wear flats just because I couldn't imagine being in any type of heel from 9 am - 10 pm

Yea, definitely wear some cute boots the first day (maybe add some Dr. Scholls in there too!) and then once you see what everyone else is wearing, you can plan accordingly for the following days. And if you are feeling really weary about what to do, throw some flats in an over-sized bag and change if needed! Just make sure you leave room for the boots in your bag if you have to take that route. It is fashion week though, LOL... dress to impress!

Wear the boots but bring back-up heels and flats. If it's 90 degrees boots will be too hot unless you only have to be outside briefly. Have fun!

Probably o.k. to wear since you're in NY. I live in the deep south and even "thinking" about wearing boots right now would be a huge faux pas.

Whatever you decide, just don't do whatever Katie Holmes is doing and you'll be fine.

No high heels. Comfort is going to be extremely important - since you are going to be out all day.

I would go with the boots.

seriously, you cannot wear flats to fashion week! comfort is the OPPOSITE of fashion, and you cannot be fashionable if youre comfortable. sorry to say it, but its true.

Here's one more thing about the boots vs flats. I have different jeans for both shoes. So if I wear boots, I will have long jeans on which means I can't just throw on flats. The outfit goes with the shoe so to speak.

boots, and get some insoles, gellin' or whatever. It is FASHION week. You ask what I would do? Seriously, to go, I would give up my feet! Just kidding. You could channel your inner Katie and roll those jeans if you were so broken in the feet you had to slip into some flats. If you must go with flats, I would choose to tuck some in your bag that are the new ballerina with the flat toe, but rock the boots!

Flats can be quite dressy. You probably have some that are pretty dressy in your closet. Alternate with some boots. When you wear the boots, keep your outfit a little lighter. Lindsay Lohan (- I know, I know, not the best example of unfaltering style : P) does a lot of sleeveless stuff with her boots, and she's in California. I think that would look fine.
If you have a pair or two of ultra comfortable low heels (1.5 inches or less is usually my rule for work) you will be fine for 13 hours.
Just bring as many comfy and stylish shoes as you have and play it by ear.

P.S: I know you're working...but I am so freaking jealous : D

how do people wear a sweater and jeans when it is hot and humid outside?...but then again Katie does not eat and her body does not burn calories, so Iguess she is cold all the time...no fat on her body to keep her warm

I think that it is probably extremely cold in the theather they are practicing in. They get warm while practicing. Also when people fill the theather it will warm up.

I know that I have to wear a sweater all day in my office it is so cold. I also wear jeans and shoes. LOL, But I do take the sweather off when I go outside.

I think boots, though they are a fall type shoe, as long as your the rest of your outfit makes sense for the weather. (Dont wear a winter outfit w/boots if the weather is 80 degrees) but if you can dress them up in a lighter outfit, I think it would look supercute!

I say boots. I'm in Texas, and even here, we're starting to wear more Fall-type outfits, including boots. I never feel dressed up in flats, even though I have some very cute ones. I understand about the long days, but Fashion Week is such a big thing, you don't want to feel underdressed.

How about wearing heels early on in the day, and switch to flats during the runway shows? Bring a cute oversized bag to switch shoes. :)

One, I am SOOO jealous that you are going to fashion week! I get what you are saying about the jean length, you are stuck with a heel once you leave the house. Either that or ruin the hem of jeans (I have done!). If you can find something like this product at a local store you would be set (adjust the hem). http://www.zakkerz.com/

I personally love a cute pair of flats (patent leather is my obsession) but often time’s a boot can be just as comfortable. I would go with tbtrfli suggestion and put in some inserts. I have the gel pads for ball of foot which is very helpful when walking.

but if i was working hours like that i would NOT go for the heels!!!

sweetie you CANNOT get away with flats at fashion week... bring them or even flip flops to walk around the city, but wear your best heels while at the venue.

Marie Marie said:

Flats definitely! I'm sure you can find a pair that looks dressy.

Go with some flats. Maybe some cute gladiator sandals. But In the end go with what makes you comfortable. That'll come off to other people and it'll be easier to interact. **Insert Witty Comment**

I'm all about boots. Besides, it's already September. That's practically fall. It's not like it's July. What I like about boots, as compared to flats, is that they will make your legs look longer and hence skinnier! That's why I looove when I can wear them again. I'm in California and it's still warm in the day but I did wear boots once when I went out in the evening. I say just be confident and own the look and you'll be fine.

Hey Vera. I would say wear the boots. Have seen pics of you that you post and you always look really nice & appropriate. Wear your boots & have a great time!

Why not go for a cute bootie with a cool dress....That's what so many celebs are doing, and the best thing is, some of the booties have lower heels or even flat soles so you won't be as uncomfortable. If you wear the flat soled ones tho, pair them with a skinny jean. Otherwise, a cool black bootie with a chic dress would be a super stylish way to go.
