Kirsten Dunst Banned Writer From Set

I love reading 'behind-the-scenes' stories like these! Who would have known that Kirsten was this type unless someone had enough guts to take it to the press ?

Kirsten Dunst banned a writer from the set of her new movie after he allegedly criticized her acting ability. British novelist Toby Young wrote the book on which the actress’s new film How to Lose Friends & Alienate People - is based, and visited the set on several occasions. And on his second visit, Young made comments regarding Dunst’s performance to a producer - and it led to the actress asking movie bosses to bar him from the studio.

"She overheard me giving the producer a "note" on her performance in a particular scene. At the time, I didn’t think of it as a criticism, more as a helpful bit of advice, and the producer took it in that spirit.

"But Kirsten overheard this exchange and interpreted it as a complaint about her acting ability. It was after this, apparently, that she took Bob (Weide, the director) to one side and asked if I could be kept at arm' s length in future. "Bob carried out this edict with a good deal of tact. I didn’t realise it, but this was, in effect, Bob carrying out Kirsten's instructions."

Guess Kirsten didn't like someone telling her to change her method. Can you imagine if you were the writer and you were told you weren't allowed to go on set?

I know actors and the worst thing you can do is you aren't the director is to criticize or try to be "helpful".

But she's right. He may be a good writer, but does this make him an acting pro?

well, considering the fact that her character comes from *his* memoir... he, being the author, prob has a few ideas about how the actress portraying said character should act.

I have never been a fan of Kirsten because I don't think she can act well. Now I don't like her personality either. Guess I won't be seeing this movie. It really dosen't make since to me that the writer wouldn't be allowed on set when he states "asked if I could be kept at arm' s length in future." To me that means that he could go on set but wasn't allowed to go near her. Either way she's rude.

beeing in her place I would have done exactly the same, if something botter you and keep you from doing a good job then you ask your boss to help you fix it... that's what she did.

She is rather defensive, if this story is true, over the comment. And, I think, rightfully so: her acting does leave something to be desired, to say the least. I've never cared for her acting. Outside of my male friends who like her for her (I'd say looks, but they tell me they ignore her face) body, so will suffer her presence in a movie if she happens to be in it, I don't have any friends who actually LIKE watching her movies. There's something about her that absolutely grates on me and annoys me more than any other actress.

'All I want to do,' Drop dead gorgeous, and Lover's Prayer,' are all diverse movies that Kirsten made which was in my opinion very good movies. Those three movies alone in my opinion, make me rate her as a good actress. She can act in my opinion, and I don't think she did anything wrong by having that writer banned from the set.

The real question is: WTF is she wearing?! Except for the beer bottle, that outfit is unacceptable.

She can't act, she has all the personality of my blender and she parks in handicapped parking. Why hasn't someone poisoned her blow yet?

I think she had a right to do so, it is distracting when everybody gives their opinion on set. The author isn't the director and his opinion was not asked.

She can act -- see Marie Antoinette, A Lover's Prayer, many others. ( I'm surprised someone above me mentioned that movie, it's really good ). She and Lindsay Lohan are probably the only under-30 actresses with a natural gift. She's obnoxious in real life but in this case she was entirely justfied. She is proven in the field of acting, Toby Young is not, and it's hard to concentrate and do your best when people are whispering behind your back.
