Keira Knightley Is Sick Of The Paparazzi

Keira Knightley Is Sick Of The Paparazzi

Can you imagine???  Keira Knightley says she steps foot outside her house and the paparazzi are all over her calling her names in hopes of getting her to break down so they can get a crying shot.

"I know that I am very lucky, but sometimes the intrusion is a very
predatory force. When you are leaving your front door and paparazzi who
are a lot bigger than you are shouting, ‘You’re a whore’ to try and
make you cry that obviously is not great."

And she makes a great point about over-exposure:

"I am told by a lot of the paparazzi who follow me that they are
helping my career but, by that logic, Paris Hilton should be the
biggest box-office catch in the world and she isn’t.  It is not good for any actor when your life becomes the story
because, in your acting work, you are trying to tell a different story.

What’s more, there is actual proof that if actors get too much
attention, people just don’t go and see the film. That sort of
over-exposure is something to be wary of."

Over-exposure definitely doesn't seem to help a career.  I think Tom Cruise might be the best proof of that.  Is there any star you used to love until you saw way too much of him/her?

I can't give exact reasons why, but I honestly think Kiera knightly is one of THE most obnoxious people... ever. Whether she's acting or talking... god. If it annoys me this much in print, I wonder what would happen if I met her in real life...

I would have to bite my tongue, hard. And probably smash a few plates afterward.

I don't understand why people hate Keira. I think she's a good actress and don't think she's as bitchy/superior-sounding as everyone else seems to, she just tells it like it is. She's not crying and saying "oh poor me, make the mean photographers go away," she's recognizing that while she is lucky to have her level of fame and fortune, the paparazzi are a negative part of that lifestyle.

She actually makes an intelligent point as to why she dislikes them beyond "just" the fact that they call her rude names (which frankly would be reason enough for me!). A lot of people now say that celebrities shouldn't get to complain about paparazzi for the very reason that the attention helps their careers, and while that's true to a certain point there is a level of over-exposure when it's just harassment without any benefits for the celebs.

I totally agree. The other commentators completely missed the point. And if Keira really "craved" paparazzi attention, she'd be out partying every night or at least in public where the photographers will be.

ITA!! I think she's classy and gorgeous. If she wanted that attention she'd be out there with the rest of the attention wh*res getting it.

I love Ellie's hypocritical comment. Isn't that a glamour head shot on YOUR post? How shallow and irritating.

Gee Gee Gee Gee said:

In Ellie's defense, she is not a celebrity, we are entitled to post an avatar, she chose a picture of herself. Unlike celebrities, some "normal" folks don't feel the need to have people tell us how great and talented we are. Also, to be a celebrity requires some sort of narcisistic behavior, one which many celebs posses.

Vera, listen to Keira, she's sick of the publicity, so how about you honor her request and stop buying her photos. Should somebody miss her, I'm sure they'll let you know. Can't see it happening soon. KK should talk to fellow actors who manage to live out of the spotlight just fine... manybe she should stop talking baout herself in some many interviews too.... mmmm just a couple of thoughts.

As far as other over exposed celebs- I worry about Miley. I like her music and I think she's talented but she's all over the place with the paps constantly following her that I'm afraid she'll end up down the path of Britney and Lindsay one day.

i agree with Keira on that one....well, i think at first , you'd like the attention but after awhile, i mean , come on, it'd drive anyone crazy!

Miley's talented?

Brad Pitt - used to love him. I was not particularly anti or pro Angelina J until she went on her huge Brad'n'Ang publicising spree, now I can't stand the woman.

I have sympathy with Keira, it must be hard to face that kind of attention every time you step out the door, and I don't think she's comfortable with any sort of mass public attention. She never looks particularly at ease at film premiers etc.

I agree with Keira. And I believe her when she says she is protecting her career. Every single "actor" who has been in one too many tabloids has lost me as a viewer because I get sick of 'em. Look what "bennifer" did to ben affleck's career, look at tom cruise's.

People get offended that celebrities don't want us in their personal lives but who can blame them? No matter what they do, no matter how humble, people will still call them a twat.

I detest Brangelina, Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie, Lindsay Lohan, Miley Cyrus, just to name a few, all because of the over exposure. It's sickening. The think I dislike about Brangelina the most, is that Jolie has the reputation of courting the paps, then has the nerve to accuse them of hounding them and fearing for the children. Give me a break.

I agree with her. It's one thing for 50 flashbulbs going off in your face when you go out to eat, or are at a club, however, it's another story when photographers are parked outside your house and you can't even walk out the door.

I agree with the above poster. The overexposure of Angelina Jolie and family has really made me dislike them - or should I say be very apathetic about them.
