Gwyneth Paltrow Says Madonna Helped Her Out Of Depression

Gwyneth Paltrow has credited Madonna with helping her overcome post-natal depression after giving birth to Moses. The actress insists her friend sat her down one day and make her realize the bigger picture.

"She is one of the most caring women and then she’s also a very tough woman… She’s very wise and she has a very soft, soft side."

Madonna’s best advice came during "a long wine-soaked dinner" as Paltrow was battling depression.

"She really helped me out of my post-natal depression. I had a very interesting talk with her one night… She was very wise about life’s bigger picture and when obstacles come up in our life it’s for a very specific reason - they’re there to teach us something that we haven’t learned yet.

"She kinda made me see that my post-natal depression was an opportunity for me to change certain things about the way I was living and the way I was going forward.
"She really sort of reorganised my molecules in that situation."

Honestly, I don't know where I would be without my friends so I can completely appreciate this.

I'm sorry but I can't appreciate anything that comes from Madonna. These celebrities are so desperate for some kind of depth in their vapor filled lives that they cling to whatever comes out of people's mouths that "seem" wise. Maddonna mixes truth with falsity and I can't respect that. Look at some of the things she still does.....at her age, she should be beyond those type of publicity stunts. Actions speak louder than words!

What do you mean by "at her age"? Should she stop living and stop doing the things she loves doing? And what is wrong with helping out her friend when she needs support? Wouldn't you do the same for your friends?

I don't for a moment believe that Madonna cured Gwyn's postpartem depression over a couple of glasses of wine. That's BS.

Gwyneth didn't say Madonna cured her depression. She said she helped her out of it. Kinda like what Madonna said made a lightbulb go on for Gwyn.

I'm sorry, but if you truely have post natal depression, having someone sit you down and discuss the "big picture" over dinner is not going to cure you. It's much more complicated than that.

is she stupid or is she stupid? madonna needs serious mental helkp herself.

Gwen also said that Madonna is very wise. I agree. She said all of this on Oprha.

Hey Gwyneth....Wine is a depressant. Maybe lay off it for a while and see how that feels.
Girlfriends are the best though. Best of luck to her.

Madonna is such a helper.

She should try having a real job then we would see depression. They should be ashamed of themselves, she has a great guy, 2 great kids all the money in the world, but she depressed, feel so bad for her...poor rich girl.

Obviously you know nothing about depression.

Gwyneth Paltrow needs to just kill herself already...

oh my god you guys! the hate is strong! i think it's lovely, i love gwyneth, i think she comes across as very real. people aren't always perky and bright and friendly, so the fact that she's open about her issues, about getting annoyed, about struggling to get herself in a good place makes her more real to me than those celebrities who always act like they fart sunshine. and i'm not a madonna fan because her music is so average, but if she was trying to help another human being out -however misguided her attempts- then surely we should applaud that.
