Sex And The City - The Teen Years

The Sex and the City saga is set for a series of prequels - author Candace Bushnell is writing a pair of teen novels about the high school adventures of Carrie Bradshaw.

This just smells like money. They are going to run with this until it is burned to the ground.

And who will play Carrie? If Miley gets the role I am going to pass out.

Bushnell will chronicle her most famous character, portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker on the big and small screen, as she deals with teenage fashion issues and other matters in The Carrie Diaries.

A spokeswoman for publishing house HarperCollins says,

"The books will take readers back to Carrie Bradshaw’s formative years in high school, giving an inside look at Carrie’s friendships, romances and how she realized her dream of becoming a writer."

The first Carrie Diaries book is expected to hit stores in 2010.

Anyone else not thrilled about it? Probably because I am about 15 years older than their target audience...

Hmmm. And who will play the young David Duchovney, who was her high school boyfriend?
Sounds like Square Pegs, and I don't want Candace Bushnell to bastardize it. My memories of it are cherished, and it will just be a comparison to me. We all know Carrie as a teen, and we love her the way she was, fashion inept.

it would sicken me if miley cyrus was a part of it. i dont like the whole idea anyway but adding in miley just strikes the match in this awful fire.

NO NO NO. I love the show and the movie but don't ruin it this way.

Well I think it will be interesting. Of course I don't want Miley whatever to be a part of it but its just going to be a book so far, not another movie. So I think it could be good.
If you're not into it then just don't read it. I don't think it could ruin it. The book is geared toward younger fans, so I think Candace Bushnell should be able to explore her characters' pasts. She's the one who created them. She made them into the ones we love.

this is a dumb idea. Part of the fun (for me anyway) of Sex and the City was to use my own imagination as to where Carrie grew up, how she lived, how she came about moving to NYC in the first place. I think on the show she mentioned her dad who walked out on her, and stealing her parents Oldsmobile but that's it. I think it adds to Carrie's mistique.
However, it would have been be cute/funny if there were an episode chronicling not how the girls met, but how they all sort of got started in NYC....rose from drab to fab, so to speak. (i.e. Carrie's first month in NYC..what was THAT like for her???LOL) ***annie***
