How Kate Hudson Makes Great Waves

How Kate Hudson Makes Great Waves

Kate Hudson's flowing, wavy locks are pretty legendary (sort of seems like she's a walking ad for her new "cruelty-free" David Babaii hair products??).  But actually, the actress recently told Allure Magazine that appearances can be deceiving!:

For some reason I've become known for my waves, but it's funny because almost every day is a bad hair day for me--and I'm not kidding.  I have super unruly hair--the kind that's right in between curly and straight."

And listen to the mayhem that ensued when the tell-tale curls made their first appearance!:

The first time I realized I even had a curl was when I was 16.  I chopped all of my hair off because I wanted that pixie-like thing--but I looked like Annie.  I had this big curly Afro, and I had to blow-dry it every second.  It was miserable."

So how does she tame her mane into a picture-perfect cascade of golden waves??:

When I had my son Ryder, though, my hair actually turned straight.  It was really weird.  But now it's getting curly again, so I always have to have something in it.  If I just let it dry without products, it's out of control.  But I've kind of got it down to a science in getting it where it needs to be: I take a little bit of conditioner--not a leave-in; you want actual conditioner--and rub that through my damp hair.  Next, I load up with David Babaii for WildAid Bohemian Beach Spray.  And then I add a lot of serum and let it air-dry.  That's my normal routine.  I basically put a lot of stuff in it and call it a day."

she should stop smothering her hair with product because in candid shots her hair always does look like crap. it looks fine & almost on the thin side, definitely not unruly looking...she should just let it do what it wants. i bet it looks best natural.

This is an awful pic of her. I don't find her to be a natural beauty but her fine, wild hair can look sexy at times.

I have the same type of hair- wavy...not really curly not really straight- and it is very unruly. When I had long hair it looked similar to Kates...there's not much else you can do to it! This kind of hair usually does whatever it wants.

Thats a horrible pic of her. She looks so much like her mother in it though!

I've got the exact same hair! It's right in between curly and straight. It's very thick and very wavy, almost curly when it's wet right out of the shower. I don't use any product in it and it dries OK. I really like my hair because I can do a lot with it.

I can relate. I hate my straight/curly hair most days!

She has the same hair as I do except mine is also really thick. If it's cut too short it looks like a mushroom, it's impossible. My hair dresser can make it look awesome but I just don't have the skill.
