Lady Gaga Forces Sunrise To Release Apology Statement Due To Performance
Are we still in a day and age when people are shocked about lip synching? An official statement was released because Lady Gaga couldn't keep up with the track she was singing over on Australia's morning show, Sunrise.
It wasn't "live". But she was singing. Lady Gaga was just singing over her song because of all the dancing she was doing.
What do you think about the statement? Are they throwing her under the bus? Or was the show really blind sighted by the act?

is a clear breach of Sunrise policy on music performances. We'd like
to apologise for the segment and assure you we view the breach

performing live and recording a song in the studio are compeltely different things! You would have to be pretty naive to believe that these singers sound the same and after all the digital editing that goes into their records. if a performer is truly a musician, they should sing live. I have never seen the symphony pretend to perform over their own recordings. maybe that's because they actually have talent!?

singers never sound the same live! I'd rather hear good music sung live than horrible singing over tracks and sloppy choreography. what happened to the good ol' days of performers actually having TALENT?
you should check out beyonce's performances, along with pink, shakira,& kelly clarkson. these are some real DIVAS that can be called professionals for they do sing well while dancing, specially beyonce.......PS. even molly cyrus is an overall more proffessional performer than lady gaga

Almost every singer/performer does it at some point. Especially when they are dancing on stage. They'd be totally out of breath and unable to keep up with the song. It STILL grates on my last nerve that Ashlee Simpson gets flak about the SNL thing. Nearly all performers lip synch on there. There's even an episode with Eminem where it is sooo obvious and there wasn't ever backlash about his. It's ridiculous. Nobody sounds perfect live -especially when there's movement/choreography involved.

Last I checked, Asshole Simpson wasn't dancing during her performances... or at least not on the crappy ones she did on SNL. What's the excuse now, why the voice over track?? I'll even give Eminem a break since he's actually RAPPING - therefore rapping that fast and then having to go into a chorus break may take the wind out of you.

Most award shows, like the American Music awards and MTV Video awards and Teen Choice the performers lip sync. A few years ago Beyonce did a song where she hung up side down and didn't even bother with the microphone...seriously and everyone was raving about her ability to sing up side down. When a show says 'live' you kind of hope that there is some real singing going on somewhere. The only time I get really ticked off, is when I pay the high cost of a concert ticket to see someone perform live, and all I get is lip syncing. I'd rather see less dancing and coreography from the headliner than hear a taped version...that's not what I paid for.
How the hell can you bring Beyonce into this? Upside down???

yeah, i thought it was pretty understood that when someone is doing heavy choreography they aren't really singing....BUT i'm not familiar with lady gaga (horrible name) so i'm not sure how heavy her choreography is.
Remember the days when people did sang live - oh the good ole days!! It's mainly this generation people (mainly pop) are lip synching - what a joke. Nobody need talent any more and I find that very sad.
All these pop stars want to have their cake and eat it, too. If you can't sing because you're dancing too hard, then become a dancer! Why do you present yourself as a singer?
It's because everybody wants to be a "triple-threat": singer, dancer, actor...clothing designer, perfume creator, executive producer, astronaut, blah blah blah...Just do one thing and do it well.
But anyway...no one forces me to listen to this stuff and I guess it'll always be around so, no need to get too upset...
How come Tina Turner can sing and dance live when she's in her 60s, but all these bimbos in their 20s have to be overdubbed or else they sound out-of- breath? There was a time when breath control was actually part a singer's training. People who do stage work have to pull it off.
The reason people came down so hard on Simpson was because she made such a point of bemoaning overdubbing and swore she never does it. You know, just she doesn't do cosmetic surgery and publicity stunt marriages.
The problem is many singers these days aren't at all well-versed in breath control and the stamina needed to sing AND dance. They'll opt to do one, or the other, and if they really want to pull off both they actually have to PRACTICE this. As in, running around constantly and getting used to catching your breath quickly while still sounding somewhat decent. When they Day 26 guys were doing vocal exercises while running up and down stairs in Central Park (I think) on their show, I understood why their coach was having them do it. Their choreography isn't the craziest, but at least they end up better prepared to sound good while they dance.
Just posted the last comment (12:30), but totally agree with Ulf.. and also, what is Ashlee Simpson lip-synching for? She hardly dances, much less jumps wildly across the stage while performing... completely unwarranted - then she had the nerve to blame it on acid reflux. Blah.

Well, it doesn't surprise me. Name me one dance music singer who can actually sing without the aid of a computer? It's just the way it is and I don't really care.
Hey, Riviera, just look at your avatar to see someone who doesn't lip synch her live performances- Madonna doesn't! And she's 50, but she never has and works to make sure she has the stamina to be able to do it. She uses a back-up track for chorus vocals, but she sings every verse.
She actually does sing live. There was a mistake in setting up the track and the one with vocals was put on instead of the one without as she does not have a live band.
It's the pop twits who can't sing. They have no talent, and they just become famous because they are "hot". That's why I hate pop music. I know everyone has their own taste in music, but that's why I prefer singer-songwriters and indie musicians. I definitely prefer going to see a really talented singer that only goes onstage with a guitar and a microphone as opposed to an overproduced dance recital where the "singer" is lip synching. Plus, the tickets are cheaper and the musicians actually give a crap about their fans.

Well, bitch, then this dial-a-diva must've either been seriously off her game or the only "intimate setting" you've ever seen her in was a Tijuana donkey show. They could've nabbed a tranny hooker off any corner and (s)he'd do at least as good a job. She put more effort into that hideous ensem than actual rehearsal. Maybe she was having a brain hemorrhage? That would explain the ungainly lurching and convulsing from one side of the stage to the next.
This is proof positive that you can put the publicity machine behind a glammed-up nobody but you can't manufacture talent.
Is it me, or does the track sound like it's been speed up? And, you can obviously tell that she's singing, but her volume is barely even up, not able to overcome the background track. There's various parts where it seems like she sings louder to try to outweigh the background track. Lady GaGa is very talented, can, and does, sing live. I honestly believe this was just a technical problem-- nothing seemed right, at all, with the track and microphone.
anybody who know anything about television performance knows the the sound was controlled 100% by the sunrise staff, INCLUDING THE PRODUCERS. First of all, you can totally hear her singing (even though it isn't very loud), and if anyone watched it live and not on you YOUTUBE THEY would have seen the show was cued at the wrong time...they panned to an empty stage, and cut to commercial, then came back with lady gaga's performance. Perhaps the public apology that was made should have been to gaga for the amateur stage/television production, and perhaps you should view every other live performance she's ever done ever to see that not only does she never lip sync but she's incredible and famous for her live shows. its a shame a big network can't take responsibility for their own technical/production difficulties and feel the need to blame it on the artist. can't wait to see her on rove on sunday.
Well even Britney Spears may do some token "singing" over the playback, but that doesn't mean she sounds at all good on her own. This chick is struggling to be heard. If her dancing was at least competent that would mitigate the situation, but it's awkward at best. This looks like a talent show. The advent of music video is the problem. Before that, you didn't necessarily have to be great-looking to top the charts. Now image is everything. It's easy to make someone look polished and slick onscreen. I think a certain laziness has set in the music industry. Singers think it's enough to just show up and look good while they mime their way through performances.

I really like Lady GaGa's song 'Just Dance', but lip sync-ing is wrong. If she can't dance and sing at the same time (which is understandable), then she should just have her back-up dancers dance. People know that artists often lip sync, but that doesn't make it accepted or right.
Also, she really needs to think carefully about her wardrobe! She has a great figure, but not so great taste in clothing.
Maybe if she spent less time prancing around on stage and more time focusing on her singing she would have put on a better performance.
I blame her managers, don't put her on stage to sing "live" when she can't even keep up with the track.
They put her out there to hang herself, and that is exactly what she did. I saw that act and it was awful!
There are artists out there that are amazing live performers, some of these people are so brilliant that a recorded album doesn't do them any justice.
Lip syncing is terrible, no one wants to spend their hard earned money watching someone pretend to sing!
Seriously, if you can't dance and sing live at the same time, please don't even try. A true artist can truely dance and sing live at the same time; Madonna, Mariah and Fergie did it.
