David and Victoria Beckham have admitted their children are sounding very American these days. They initially vowed their sons Brooklyn, nine, Romeo, seven and three-year-old Cruz would keep their English roots.
But being as young as they are, it was bound to happen as the children are currently in school.
"They are getting American accents.
I think it’s really cute. They love it here. They have a great school. The opportunities in America are fantastic. We love England but for us to be here is great."
It’s funny because my grandmother has been here for 50 years or so and she has kept her Maltese accent sounding as if she never left the island. Then I met someone the other day who was from Australia, but has been here for about 20 years. Her accent kicked in only with certain words, otherwise she sounded like she was born in New York. Guess everyone is different.

When I was 5 years old I lived in England for 4 years and I had a very strong english accent for the longest time, but now it’s completely gone. I didn’t purposely change it – it just happen.
with that short hair cut, shes kind of looking older

Hi friends:
We are two students, that we are very interested in Beckam, we doesn´t understand too much of football, but we likes his game, and seem to us to be very handsome, and a good and intelligent person.
We do not deal very well for that this going out with Victory, she does´nt seem to be nice and funny.
Please, write back soon!!
you can’t get a new accent @ age 12, the cutoff age depends on how mature the kids are but it’s usually between 6-8 that they can adapt
Somebody essentially lend a hand to make significantly posts I’d state. That is the first time I frequented your web page and so far? I surprised with the research you made to create this actual post amazing. Fantastic activity!
it depends on how old you are when you moved to another country. The older you get the harder it is to learn a new a language or get rid of your accent. So for their kids it’s really easy. At their age they’ll probably learn to speak just like any other American. Once you’re in your teens it starts getting harder and from 20 on I think it is almost impossible to completely loose an accent.
Children are more likely to mimic accents, they want to be accepted.
But I think it would be a shame if the Beckham boys completely lost their English accents – then again they probably speak with an Essex accent like David which is not so hot!
I slip in and out of mine all the time. I imagine when the boys are older they will also find it easy to slip in and out of either.. especially when around people from other places!
aww thats cool. I’m maltese lol and so is your grandma. malta is a small island and is so cool to read other people mention it or say they or their family are from here
That’s sad, I think little british accents are adorable.
last time she said she doesn’t want them to have an american accent because ” we” are british. Now she thinks it is cute now she has perfume to sale for American buyers? It is about money once again for this fame and money hungery wh*ore. She also needs to lay off fake tanning. She looks like a black girl all the time. For once show your own colour Queen of fake.
Age 12 is the cut off age. If you move before age 12, you will develop a new accent. After 12 and you will retain some the accent of your native country. Of course, as you get older it gets harder to switch. Got this from a developmental psych. course.
She needs to acquire some shine-control powder or something. Ew!
I agree with Ellie. She alos needs to grow her hair back. Not looking good.
