Clay Aiken Receives $500,000 For People Magazine Cover

I always love to find out how much people got paid to tell their personal stories and expose their deepest secrets to these magazines. Clay Aiken received $500,000 from People Magazine for the cover that broke he was a homosexual. That's a nice chunk of change now isn't it? Wonder if it was a worthwhile investment?

Also in the running was Ok! Magazine, who eventually pulled out of the bidding process because they thought it wasn't that big of a deal.

"We did bid on the Clay story but thought it was just all right, not phenomenal."

It's amazing with our economy swirling down the toilet, these mags can still hand out this kind of money. I have never bought one of these magazines, and never will. Why would you, when you can get all this info free on the internet???

My understanding is that he didn't accept anything for the story and that information will also be publicized as well. Interesting. I'm not even going to get into the "already knew" stuff because it just perpetuates the stereotype crap and in this century that's a freakin' shame.

I am a member of Clays fan club. (hey, don't judge me) It has been told to us that Clay REFUSED any money for his story because he just wanted it out there. Give the man credit, that is a big thing to do when most celebs grab as much $$$ as they can get. Surprising enough, most of the Claymates are even standing behind Clay....I say good for Clay finally being able to be himself. And I hope that gay people in this country would just be accepted and not torn apart like some are.

I am so sick of this gay propaganda. I do not mind that people are gay but I am sick of having it shoved down everybodys throat to accept. It is not like you are of a different race. It is because you want to stick your peen in all the other places. Sick of this crap.

Its fine for CLay or anyone else to be gay. People need to stand up for who they are. I am glad he did this and he is awasome for refusing money! Maybe angelina and jlo should take notes!

Clay Aiken: "Yes, I'm gay." America: "We kinda figured that out ourselves, Einstein." In other news of the obvious, the sun will rise in the east tomorrow.

To the member of the Clay fan club. Wake up!!!!!!He also told you that he wasn't gay and who knows what other lies. Why believe that he didn't take the money when he has been taking money from you women for years for whatever charities etc.? I used to feel sorry for all of you that believed his crap and thought that he would marry one of you. If you are still standing by this then its your own fault when the next Clay lie happens. He has led his fans on an untrue merry dance. If he cared about you he wouldn't have done it. He seems to have hurt the hearts of so many people with his covert antics. Its time to move on for your own sakes.JMO

Lauren, calm down!!! I never thought Clay was gonna marry me. I do not feel lied to. Being gay, and coming out, is such a personal thing. He should have never been put in the position of having to "lie" as you say. It is nobodies right to ask if he is gay/straight. Clay came out when HE was ready. I love his voice, that is why I am a fan. Clay never went out with women acting as if they were his girlfriends, he never tried to "live a straight life" and I trust in him as a good person. To say that a gay man who is not ready to come out to the world is a liar and not to be trusted is wrong. Clay said he was NOT paid for the story/pics. I believe him.

is that OK to be gay and not come out? I wish people would just keep their sexuality in their bedrooms. Disgusting. Hollywood sewer is at work.

Too bad Clay never had that option. From day 1 on American Idol Aiken was hounded and hounded about his sexuality. He could not have an interview without it being brought up. He never could have a moments peace about it, so now maybe that he has stood up and said Yes, I am gay, people can just move on and enjoy the amazing talent that he has. You should catch him in Spamalot. The man is spot on as Sir Robin.
