Eva Mendes Isn't Ashamed Of Her Body

Eva Mendes recently sat down and talked with the Spanish edition of Vogue magazine about her body image and staying in shape.  The sexy actress says she's not ashamed of her body and wishes that the U.S. would stop being prudish when it comes to nudity!

"I love my country, but I believe that we are too quick to censor nudity. We seem okay with violence, but nudity we race
to criticize and censor. I'm not at all ashamed or frightened about
showing my body."

She's happy to be a sex symbol as long as that's not at the forefront of her life.

"I love it, but it's not important to me to always be thought of as
sexy. I like it when it doesn't limit my career. It's a part of my
life, but on a secondary plane."

As for how she maintains her great body, there's no big secret.

"I try not to go crazy, but yes, I pay attention to what I eat. I try to stay away from pasta, bread, cakes, sweets, cookies and ice cream."

Do you think she's right about the way we view nudity and violence here in the U.S.?

Is that a new hair color for her? Not loving it. She is such a natural beauty.

she can call me prudish whenever she wants. i don't like gory violence, and i don't like nudity. some things are best left to the imagination. "I'm not at all ashamed or frightened about showing my body." sounds like insecurity. too bad, she's so pretty and has amazing fashion sense.

Nudity isn't bad when it's artistic. But that doesn't mean I agree with it. Whatever I just think that she should stop calling everyone prudish.

Most of her nudity comes across as porn.

No doubt about it. Americans seem to rate movies by boob exposure not the amount of violence. This known everywhere in the world but in U.S.A.

Yes. I know parents who will let their young kids watch any movie with violence, but if a scene comes on with nudity or passionate kissing or anything of that sort, and it's a race for the remote. That is not to say we should expose our kids to over-the-top sexual scenes either, mind you. I'm just sayin'...

Is a surprise she didn't say "I'm latin Cuban, we latin people are not shy about sex and our bodies". I'm not being racist, I'm latin myself but when she uses her race to justify her actions it makes me want to scream ..."STOP PUTTING ALL OF US IN YOUR STUPID CATEGORY YOU HOLLYWOOD WHORE" Anyhow, yes, here in America we tend to be more lenient when it comes to violence in movies, but not with sex.

sorry but latin is not a race. You are either white or not. You are not latin if you are spanish or portugese. You are white and european. Everything else is hispanic.

I don't agree with my children viewing either nudity or violence. And I'm not a prude. I'm a PARENT.

I just saw the Sex in the City movie and really I don't think that you could call that prudish. I thought the graphic sex scenes ruined the movie. I mean can we leave anything to the imagination anymore? How are we calling this prudish? Is it because it's rated R that we say we are prudish? Should this kind of movie be out there for anyone, including children? Of course not! I say if we are prudish let's get more so and everyone can keep their ta-tas to themselves.

Seems like recently she discusses about sex and her sexuality alot. Before she was so private about those topics. But now she feels the need to talk about it so it keeps her in the gossip blogs and magazines.

Europe is way more accepting of nudity and sex than America.

and? the way they are going europeans are soon going to be replaced by muslim minorities. They are barely replacing themselves while they are obsessed with sex and perversion and totally abandoning churches and culture

she has a point on nudity. i live in canada - and i don't think we are as up tight as the USA, but not as open as europe for sure. also - she always looks a bit dirty. don't you think? not slutty dirty. dirt dirty.

she looks greasy, with dark ashy skin and features and lots of dark make up that looks like she slept with it on and has not washed her face in 2 days. Yakes.

I'll actually have to agree with Eva saying that violence is far more accepted in the US than nudity. And I'm not talking about porn, no, just nudity. nudity is natural, so what is wrong about it? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for privacy, but I don't get how it is a big shocker to see parts of a naked body in a movie for example, after all it is only natural. unlike a lot of violence shown in movies nowadays - for the purpose of entertainment only..! how crazy is it to be shocked by nudity and accept violence as a factor of entertainment??

So you're saying that because Europe is more accepting of nudity and sex, they are going to be replaced by muslim minorities. Do you not know ANYTHING about Islam?? I just love the way you throw in your silly opinions as facts. Since when are they "barely replacing themselves" and "abandoning churches"? Wow, you're stupid.

She is a beautiful woman, but I agree with several comments... All she talks about is how sexy she thinks she is, and her body. I would love to hear about her work. Why does she focus so much on being nude and showing every inch of herself. What about a performance she has done in a film. That would warrant an interview. I am tired of hearing about her nudity.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Sabine and others, I couldn't agree more with you. I am a spanier living and germany, and nudity is just normal here. Why should hurt my children the vision of a naked body? It's just a body, if I see someone bathing naked at the beach in a total natural, not-sexualized way, the idea of sex doesn't even come to my mind, they are diferent concepts. Violence, in the contrary, is bad in principle. When a see the fotos of sarah palin's daugher with the guns... it freaks me out.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

well the fact that half the people on here are calling her a whore kind of proves what shes saying... some americans are kind of uptight, waaaay more than we are in europe.

i don't think the issue so much is censorship but lack of respect. often times a woman's sexuality is disrespected and she is viewed as a whore for showing this side of herself. this is what happens when the wants of men determine how a woman shows herself. but when women make that determination, the result is beautiful and sexy and should never be censored.

we just don't respect women in this country.

she is beautiful and has the potential of being up there with actresses such as julia roberts, nicole kidman and etc
however, i feel that all this nudity dumbs her down and i belive is one of the reasons she became and still is famous, so it totally eliminates her from the classy to the trashy
maybe if it was one ad or two it would be fine but i dont think i have ever seen her fully clothed.

I don't believe that she should act with such vain, but what she says about nudity and violence in my opinion is right. When you censor nudity your subconsciously setting up in the child in that it's bad, but then violence seems to be everywhere without being censored. It's like saying that nudity is worst than violence...so basically explosions and guns subconsciously or consciously are better than nudity which is actually natural.

In my opinion this can possibly be linked to sex being seemingly taboo even though that is natural. This is was in my opinion a lot of younger generations are growing up in America without proper sexual knowledge. Please do not take this as if I'm saying send your kids out to have sex, but just give them the knowledge. My mother gave me an in dept talk and always kept an open mind. She gave me part of the talk when I was 10 and the rest when I was 12, so if I was to have sex later in life I knew how to do it safely...I think that was a good idea and no it didn't put the idea in my mind to have sex. To be quite honest, I'm going on 19 and I'm still a virgin. I'm all about finishing up with schooling before worrying about boys in such ways.
