Johnny Depp To Become Highest Paid Actor Of All Time
Johnny Depp is set to break Tom Hanks' record to become the highest paid actor EVER. He'll receive over $56 million dollars for the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film. Before that the record was held by Tom who did the Da Vinci Code for $51 million. And industry insider said,
"It's a lot of swag but they just can't make another without Sparrow."
Also, rumor has it that Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom won't star in the 4th movie. Maybe that's because after paying Johnny so much the film can't afford other actors in their budget. :)
Anyways, if it were anyone else getting this absolutely ridiculous amount of money for a movie I'm sure we'd all be complaining about the absurdity of it all, but with Johnny, I have no doubt he'll continue using his fortune and fame to do good in the world.
when was the turning point in our society in which we felt like it was alright to pay a single person nearly $60 million for a few months worth of work. this is so sad....scientists who do research to save lives make less than $100k a year, while this guy could single handedly solve the financial crisis.

Who do you think pays Johnny Depp $60 million to do one movie? We do. By going to the theatre and paying to see this movie, and then buying the DVD we are saying that we support this. If there was no demand, there would be no dollars, it's pretty simple.. when a movie can make millions upon millions in the box office where would you rather that money go? To the actor or to the producer, who did nothing but use their money to make more money.. I think that whatever we are willing to pay an actor is worth it. Somebody is going to make that money from the movie, and they are offering him $60 million because they are going to make MORE than that because of him. If you don't support actors making millions of dollars then you should probably stop paying their wages by buying their product.
Wages have never been particularly relevant to the job.

The movies bring in HUNDREDS of millions of dollars. and the number one draw is Johnny himself, so I think he deserves it. Why should the studios be the only ones to roll in the green? What actors get paid is peanuts compared to what the studios are cashing in.
I've yet to watch one of these pirate movies of his. He's a good looking guy but damn is his acting worth all that much money? seriously?

I find it hilarious how people go on about scientist deserve more than actors, or these people don't deserve fame or money. Yet people say these while gawking over these people on a celebrity gossip website. Haha it's so funny so they don't see their contributing to the salaries of celebrities.
Truth is Pirates will make over a billion dollars probably. They can't make the movie without him. Johnny is simply using an claiming a percentage of the profits that's he's helping earning. He's the only in-disposable part of the equation therefore he is worth that much.
It may not be fair as far as what the work is, but as far as how valuable his image is then he deserves it, otherwise they wouldn't pay him so much

Disney is in the business of media production. The "Pirates" franchise is one of their bigest hits. In any high dollar business, you have components that are necessary to continue the momentum of a given product. For Pirates , Johnny Depp is the most important component to the continued momentum of the Pirates franchise. Because of the practically gauranteed success of the film, 56 million is a relatively small investment for a company to pay to gaurantee success in a venture. This is from a business standpoint, personally I say quit your bitching and don't become a scientist if you don't like how much they make.

people like madonna are earning 240 millions per year, and she doesn't even sing well. So I think Johnny deserve it. He is a very good actor.
