South African Headmistress Sues Oprah
Oprah Winfrey has been sued by the headmistress, Nomvuyo Mzamane, of her school in South Africa, the South African Leadership Academy for Girls. Nomvuyo has filed a civil suit because she says that Oprah,
"launched what amounted to a defamatory campaign" against Mzamane late
last year (07) by implying that Mzamane is "untrustworthy, failed the
students of the academy, did not care about the students at the
academy, knew of alleged physical and sexual abuse at the academy and
participated in a cover-up of the alleged abuse."
It was about a year ago that Oprah first told the media that one of the dorm matrons had assaulted and abused six students at the school.
Really, how can you fight Oprah? At best Nomvuyoc could get some kind of payout, and at worst her lawyers will most likely be crushed by Oprah's top notch legal team. We all know Oprah can afford the best.

If it's true it's horrible to think she can't be touch because of her fame and money.
Oprah makes mistakes too. She should be held accountable. She should not have opened that school on such a large scale if she wasn't going to oversee it. How many times has she been back to visit?
When you have alot of money, people are always looking for a chance to sue. Ophra wants to make sure those girls are protected and cared for. Let her sue Ophra; she'll be lucky she gets a dime. I bet before O built that school, she was probably sleeping in a hut eating garbage.

Very disappointing Vera, to think you are a woman and you have kids!! Oprah was making sure that she protected the girls in light of the awful circumstances, she was doing what she absolutely had to do. The headmistress ( like a CEO of a company ) must be held accountable. As a Canadian I always notice the slightly racially tinged jealous attitudes Americans have towards Oprah and her wealth. Hey, isn't yours the country of opportunity? Well, before this meltdown but anyway.

How is this post in any way anti-Oprah? I think she's just saying that no matter who is right or wrong in this case it can't be easy to fight the O.! Besides, we have no idea if the headmistress actually knew or not. Ever heard of innocent until proven guilty?

If Oprah had really wanted to help these children, she wouldn't have set up some chi-chi rich-b!tch all-girls' school that will do nothing to prepare them for the reality of their lives afterward. If Oprah did something wrong, then she needs to pay the consequences, like the rest of us do. Her sh!t stinks as much as anyone else's. ~ Nyx ~
