Kellie Pickler Admits To Battling Depression

Well, I guess that explains the dramatic weight loss. Add family issues to  relationship drama and  you got yourself one unhappy country singer. Kellie Pickler has admitted to having severe depression for the last year to People Magazine.

"Everything in my professional life seemed great," says the former American Idol contestant, 22. "But in my personal life, I was just crumbling."

The former American Idol contestant says she even went on anti-depression pills, but they made her situation worse.

Anti-depressants made her "crazy," she says, and the side effects forced her to quit the pills.

"I was an emotional wreck," she says.

So what brought her back above water?

Being friends with Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, having a great boyfriend Kyle Jacobs and working on her new album

We are all rooting for you Kellie!

i seriously have nothing against her, i actually like her. but, i HATE it when celebs are like wah wah wah i hate my life...im depressed...i wish i was a normal person...UGH i hate it! and when theyre like wah wah wah i was bullied in school...no you werent shut up! ok, i know that some cases may be true or whatever but its so annoying. they were the ones that got themselves into it in the first place by auditioning and stuff so its sooo irritating!

what i hate is when people say comments like that. just because your life seems blessed doesn't mean you shouldn't be depressed. lots of cases of depression are caused by a chemical inbalance in your brain that makes you focus on negative and ignore positive. you shouldn't hate on someone when you have no idea what's going on inside his or her head.

Talks to much. It's no one's business and I'm pretty sure that cares about her depression except her and her psychiatrist. Maybe she should talk to him/her instead of cameras.

If anti-depressants made her feel "crazy", then she/her dr.'s may be treating the wrong mental illness. Sometimes they can be too quick to give the easier diagnosis of depression , when it may be an anxiety disorder, bipolar rather than unipolar, a personality disorder, etc. etc.

This comment by the author needs correcting: "Well, I guess that explains the dramatic weight loss." There was no "dramatic" weight loss. I have seen Kellie Pickler in person at least a half dozen times since she left American Idol, the last time just this week. I've also seen most of her TV appearances, and photos from fans and pros alike. I can tell you without hesitation that Kellie Pickler appears to be perfectly healthy and still has a fantastic body, both petite and curvy. Her weight goes up and down a bit, but no more than most women her age. Anyway, I am glad to see that Kellie is doing better. Thank goodness for Carrie, Taylor and Kyle. I think some of the comments are from people disappointed there's no "blood and guts" here. Kellie had a problem, dealt with it, suffered a setback, dealt with the results and ultimately emerged a healthier, stronger person. No one blogs about ordinary people dealing with depression. But when someone like Kellie Pickler talks openly about overcoming depression, it can serve as inspiration, just like her music.

What a phony piece of crap. I dont feel bad for her-looking at her face makes me sick. What a poor excuse for a country music singer. She has no idea what depressed is. She still hates herself-anyone that has plastic surgery for cosmetic purposes does. You could get 1000 plastic surgeries, but if you despise yourself you'll end up committing suicide anyway. good luck kelly! hope your on the right meds. I would like to know what kind of mascara you use that doesnt run when you perform your crying acts. what a loser.

Most famous people are depressed. All the money in the world can't buy you happiness. But in the case of Kellie, can buy you massive amounts of coke.

but...it is true. Not many people really want to hear about it. You really dont have to talk about it in a magazine or anything. Its your life. thousands of people can say they are depressed. Its only the famous ones that we hear about. Most of us know that things can be hard, but alot of us just put up with life anyway.. its what we do
