David Duchovny And Tea Leoni Confirm Split

In a joint statement released Wednesday afternoon, Tea Leoni and David Duchovny confirmed their split, stating
"In light of continuous speculation over the lives and marriage of Tea
Leoni and David Duchovny, the couple has confirmed that they have in
fact been separated for several months. The
couple had hoped to keep this separation private for the sake of their
children."
Wow. I am a little shocked despite David's recent trip to rehab for sex addiction. They were one of those Hollywood couples I thought would end up staying together forever. What are your thoughts?

Separated is not divorced and actually, I think it might be a good idea while he is battleing his addiction. It will help him realize what he would be giving up if he continued. I know he is now out of rehab, but it might still be a long road for him.
That said, I do hope they can patch things up and move on together from this.

I can't say that I am too shocked. I still think there is more to David that hasn't been revealed yet except as the supposed subject of a few Blind Items. I still feel there is more to this story and the big bombshell is still yet to come, I hope I'm wrong tho for the sake of his wife and kids. However, I still think it will eventually end in divorce. I just don't think David is a monogamous type of guy. He would be better off single. It's sad because I think he does love her and I guess he tried.
I thought they were recently seen together at a street festival acting pretty cozy....what happened? Man...were they really 'acting' cozy with each other? Celebrity marriages...I've always liked them.

Well, like finnaryn said, this separation might be a good thing. I can't imagine I would react very favorably to my husband having a sex addiction - esp. one that is known about by nearly EVERY person on the face of the earth! Time apart might be just the ticket.

i'm sad about this... i thought they'd stay together, even though he went through that rehab/sex thing.. guess i'm just wanting a happy ending for Mulder ;-)

Maybe I'm just a b*tch, but I never liked Tea Leone and although I hate to see anyone miserable, some secret evil part of me is glad hunky David is on the market again.
Course...it sounds like he was never really /off/ the market, doesn't it?
this makes me so sad. for all of them. i hope they still are able to work things out. they have so much time invested together, albeit tainted now, and two beautiful kids. i hate hearing this news. very sad.
Good luck to them but it is like Eric Benet and Halle Berry all over again. Sex addiction.. he has prolly cheated on her many times. Halle B. said on Oprah that Eric slept with 100s of women. Yes 100s!!!
Eric recently said that he was not a sex addict but he was trying to save his marriage. He cheated and Halle made him go to therapy. David must be in the same situation. Better to say you have a 'problem' than say you're a cheater, I guess. I have no sympathy for David or Tea because all they ever talk about in their interviews is sex. Maybe she's an 'addict' too? Boo hoo.

We don't honestly know what all has gone on in their relationship. We know he's got some issues, and it appears he's trying to fight his demons. Maybe they really need a step back in order to take a step forward. Help rebuild the foundation of their marriage (trust). Ill keep my fingers crossed for them.

Honestly, who DOESN'T split now a days? And if they haven't yet, they will if they're a Hollywood couple. How lame that Hollywood is not only very physically superfical, but emotionally as well, obviously. I know Duchovny from Red Shoe Diaries, but never heard of this Tea chick before. Well, I wouldn't have married a sex addict in the first place.
I have been a D.D. fan for a long time..Tea, not so much..but I was surprized by this "sex addiction" story...I hope they can work things out, but we are talking about hollywood..so in hollywood time, they have been married a reaaaally long time..I miss Fox Muldar

My Grandfather has been split from his wife for about 3 or 4 years now! No divorce or anything. Him and his current wife are actually still working things through and possiblely might be getting back together. So there is always a hope.
Since when does being separated mean they have "split?" That may have been what she had to do to make him seek help. This seems like pretty irresponsible use of headlines, Vera. They have not announced they're getting a divorce.

to me this is a very private thing why are they announcing this to the public? is it really any of our business? I mean they said they were separated for a very long time and no one knew about it so why now....they're doing nothing but humiliating their children. they're nothing but fame-whores!! how could they do this to their children. People in Hollywood are truly pathetic.
i totally agree with you.it's none of our business.well,they get what they deserve.and i don't know Tea very well.no matter what they do,the kids shouldn't hurt from this.

:( I love them both and hope they work it out. I am seriously hoping that David's addiction doesn't force him to stop his work on Californication. I LOVE that show. I never thought of David as sexy until I watched that show. ;) And I absolutely love Tea. I wish them the best.
DD could have been hiding his addiction for a really long time. He's always said he's liked his solitude and that Tea understood...maybe he was looking at porn the whole time. I don't think David had sex with anyone else, it was more of a porn addiction. I think that Californication pushed his addiction over the edge. He's living out his fantasies doing that show.
I really hope they're able to work things out, even if it takes a year or so. They have children, and I'm sure they both truly love each other. People with addictions act selfishly and hurt the ones they love, even though they don't mean to. Sometimes i wish famous people wouldn't get married because 97% of the time they end up in divorce, and the children are the ones that end up suffering.
