Top Ten Long Term Hollywood Romances

Top Ten Long Term Hollywood Romances

Ahh, how I love lists!  This time we're going with the top 10 long term Hollywood romances.  Glamour put together a group of couples who have somehow managed to go the distance even with all the challenges that face these relationships playing out in the limelight.

In no particular order here are the couples that made the cut:

  • David and Victoria Beckham
  • Tim Ribbons and Susan Sarandon
  • Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas
  • Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi
  • Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis
  • Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy
  • Courteney Cox and David Arquette
  • Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson
  • Will and Jada Pinkett Smith
  • Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell

I love this quote by Tom Hanks about Rita, SO cute!

I'm a lucky man. Rita [Wilson] could have done better, but, you know, every now and again, you win the lottery.

Anyways, back to the great romances of our time...is there anyone you think they left off the list?

And better yet, which young couple do you think could be on a list like this 10 years down the road?  Personally, I'm rooting for Nicole Richie and Joel Madden...

So cute! I'm rooting for Brangelina! I love their family-- it seems like so much fun... exhausting... but fun nonetheless.

um, kevin and kyra anyone?

Um...Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas???????? You've got to be kidding me. Michael dumped his ex for Catherine so that definitely doesn't count. Same with Tom, he dumped his ex for Rita. People have such short memories.

I agree with this. I'd like to see a list of long-term Hollywood FIRST MARRIAGE couples. I realize it might be a little outdated since so many couples choose (or can't) actually marry. But, I would be interested to see if ANY of the men in the "great couples" are with their first wife....

Anonymous Anonymous said:

How do their relationships not count? The list is for relationships that are standing the test of time (at least by celebrity standards)...no one said anything about how the relationships came to be.

How do you know all of this? Because the tabloids told you so? Or were you actually there? Or maybe you're just psychic?
It must be tough for you keeping track of all this AND being the Chief of the Morality Police :o)

What about Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward? I know that he passed away, but can't they be included? (and, by the way, it's Tim Robbins not Tim Ribbons!)

What about Godlie and Kurt, or Warren Beaty and Annette Benning?

I agree-I'm surprised Kevin and Kyra aren't on the list. And I'm sorry, but I agree that it doesn't matter how the relationships came to be. Michael and Catherine have been married for ages and make a great couple.

I want to see Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens on the list in 10 years. They're both so young and it would be really nice to see them grow older and still be together.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Seriously...I doubt they are even a couple now. ;)

I'd like to see Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner on the list in 10 years - I think they're a solid, down to earth couple.

While I like all of the couples on the list, I was surprised to see Ellen & Portia. I hope they make it, but they haven't been together for all that long when you compare them to the other couples on the list who have decades.

Denzel and Pauletta Washington have been married for 25 years, have been together as a couple for over thirty. Why are they not on this list? And, indeed, where are Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward?

Kinda surprised Brangelina didn't make the list. I mean, the woman steals my husband and then didn't get a lot of credit for it. :( Poor girl.

There are several couples on this list that haven't "gone the distance" at all. Geez, is 3 1/5 minutes the test of time these days??? What is the criteria for going the distance, seriously?

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I am hoping that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner make it. I like them together

If I had all of Tom Hanks' money at my disposal, I think I'd hire a stylist and find a more flattering dress than the one Rita Wilson is wearing...

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Ha Ha! Exactly what I was thinking. Poor thang wishes she was young. Cute shoes though.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I have to agree. Kevin Bacon and Kyra are still married, and both their first. Why did you throw Ellen in there. They have not been together all that long. Um, Brangelina have been together all of 3 years.

Paul Newman and his wife Joanne. Talk about Hollywood longevity!I know he recently passed on, but that marriage enviable.

Some people commenting on here are retarded.

I could be wrong but I thought Tom Hanks was a widower.

Doris Doris said:

First, Michael Douglas was already separated from his wife when he met Catherine Zeta-Jones. Second, Tom Hanks is not a widower! He and his first wife divorced in 1987 and have two children together. On another note, I think it's totally bizarre that Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward didn't make it onto this list! And I agree that Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick should be here too.
