Joaquin Phoenix Officially Quits Acting

I’m sorry — what? While doing an interview with Extra TV, Joaquin Phoenix gave his official resignation. While attending a fundraiser for late actor Paul Newman’s children’s charity, Joaquin said that he just wants to concentrate on music.

"I want to take this opportunity… also to give you the exclusive and just talk a little bit about the fact that this will be my last performance as an actor… I’m not doing films anymore.

"I’m working on my music. I’m done. I’ve been through that."

And the news has been confirmed by his representative, who says,

"That is what he told me."

Phoenix’s brother-in-law Casey Affleck, who is married to Summer Phoenix, insists the star is for real:

"I don’t think he’s kidding. He’s got music and stuff."

The movie Joaquin was talking about is a romantic drama Two Lovers in which he starred alongside Gwyneth Paltrow.

or some half way decent movie. Long time no see this very fine actor

He must be back on drugs or something to say something like this. We’ll see what happens when he can’t pay his bills with music. I think the Johnny Cash role went to his head.

remember that time he was on a red carpet and he asked a reporter if there was frog on top of his head?!! that’s what this reminds me of…

That’s exactly what I thought of, too! Joaquin certainly marches to the beat of his own…. drummer?

Best of luck to him but I kind of think it is a little selfish to make this announcement at a fundraiser for Paul Newman. “Take this opportunity to give you the exclusive” ?? Egotistical. That aside, he has the financial means to explore another career path so all the power to him!

Would it have been less “egotistical” to call a press conference? I get the impression he was killing two birds with one stone and it was an interview for an entertainment show. Big deal.

OMG could he BE any hotter?
    me likey!

This is one guy who I have always disliked. Dont really know why except something about him rubs me the wrong way. Maybe hes too good of an actor and I am projecting his roles onto him personally?

  17. Sporky says:

Well, it IS a lot easier to be an alcoholic if you’re a musician. Just sayin’. But I am disappointed since he is a talented actor. That’s rare these days for someone his age.

  18. Tiinnaaaa says:

HAHAHHA. He asked a reporter if there was a frog on his HEAD? HAHA

He’ll be back – just give him time.
