Carrie Underwood Didn't Mean To Upset Jessica Simpson With Romo Comment

Carrie Underwood sits down and talks to Elle Magazine about the Jessica Simpson/Carrie Underwood fued and her comments about Tony Romo still calling her.

"It was something that was said in passing, and I would never mean to
say anything to hurt anybody or stir up anything, because I'm just not
about drama...at all,"

I didn't believe for one minute she said it with a mean spirit. It's just that since the celebrity life is so public, it was bound to get back to Jes and blown up by the media.

Carrie even stated that she understood why Jessica would be upset.

"I might be mad too if somebody said my boyfriend was calling some
other girl," she said. "So I can definitely see where she would be
coming from."

The singer claims she hasn't spoken to Romo, "since, like, May."

And what about Carrie dating Michael Phelps? It's just not true.

"I swear on everything, on my job, on my house, my dog. That’s how serious I am. It’s all just a lie."

I really like Carrie Underwood but that wasn't an apology. Many of your headlines are misleading, Vera.

Agreed..not only was it not an apology, it was a back-handed insult, implying that Jessica is insecure for reacting the way she did and seeing it as mean-spirited. I'm no Jessica fan, but come on, Vera--when you say you don't for one minute believe Carrie was stirring up trouble??? You don't know Carrie personally, but you ought to know enough about women to know that no one says something like what Carrie said without wanting to stir up trouble. Carrie said Jessica's boyfriend still calls her. Wouldn't it p*ss you off if someone said your husband still calls her??

Something about this still makes me feel this girl isn't sorry. The fact that she said she hasn't talked to him "since, like, May" indicates to me that she still wanted to announce that they were still in touch after their breakup which Jessica would probably be bothered by in some way.

I personally dont like this girl. I dont see a big deal if they still kept in touch after the breakup many people stay or try to stay friendly with an ex..She was in the wrong to make it seem like he was still trying to get back with her and thats why she made that comment. She is a coward, if you say something stand by it even if it was mean, dont hide your hand and say or i didnt think it would upset anyone.

I agree with everyone - she doesn't seem so sorry... she was trying to throw that insult in there making Jessica seem insecure, and also making sure we all know that she has talked to Tony while he was with Jess. I would be incredibly pissed if someone said my boyfriend was calling them... it seems like she is just trying to stir something else up and make herself look good.

This is pure PR movement...she's trying to get back the "good girl" image, but it's a little late for that isn't it?

Hmmm Jessica is allowed her dig at Carrie though when she wore that t-shirt saying that "real girls eat meat", mind you she thinks that Tuna is chicken!

Jessica needs to stop pouting a get over it!

I don't like Carrie Underwood. Having been heavier herself at one point, I find it especially catty of her to comment on a rival's weight and boyfriend still communicating with her. Her following comments only make her look worse -- totally insincere and unapologetic and with backhanded insults. Jessica lowered herself responding to Carrie, and just showed her insecurity. But I'd take Jessica as a friend over Carrie any day. Carrie just seems like, she needs to know she's better than other girls, and has to show it. Yuck.

Carrie is full of it... she wouldn't say anything to hurt someone or stir anything up???? She just came out with an interview today stating she would never pubically endorse a political candidate. Then proceeded to say she has lost ALL respect for Oprah, George Clooney, Jennifer Anniston, and Diddy. I don't think any of these people will lose sleep because they don't have her respect. I also find it interesting that all these people she pointed out are Obama supporters. She didn't slam any of the stars that support McCain like Kelsey Grammer and Angie Harmon.

He, he, he... I would hope she wouldn't want to "pubically" endorse a politician! Good catch!

You don't tell the world that your ex is obsessively calling you eventhough he has a new girlfriend unless you want to start some drama or you're just as stupid as Jessica Simpson. Carrie new what she was doing and I don't think she's sorry for saying it.

The feud between Carrie and Jessica is media made. Jessica is a little insecure with her relationship with Tony and she needs to grow up. Carrie is from a small town and she seems so nice. I think everything she's said has been blown out of porportion. People just want to get the dirt on Carrie because she's so nice and no one can believe an actual celebrity is a nice and decent person. Leave Carrie alone. All she wants to do is sing and enjoy her career. Stop making her the bad girl.

haha I guess you know her personally, right?

I think the media got carried away when they broke the story that Ms. Underwood still talks to Tony Romo everyday! Like Carrie said she said it in passing and that was that. Also Carrie wasn't always skinny Minnie back in her "American Idol" days! She was about 15-20 pounds heavier than she is now and that's no laughing matter! I mean, I think Carrie's feelings would obviously be hurt if someone poked fun at her weight back then!!!! Plus, Jessica Simpson does have a problem with her weight, from time to time, but I've never seen her downright fat!! She's either been a little overweight or way too skinny.... Jessica and Carrie are both beautiful women, so since they both have/are dated/ing Tony Romo, they are supposed to automatically hate each other, but I bet that's not the case!
