Kate Winslet Upset Over Photoshop Accusations

Kate Winslet Upset Over Photoshop Accusations

Just yesterday I posted shots of Kate Winslet in Vanity Fair and a lot of you commented that she looked pretty airbrushed in the photos.  Well, she's heard you loud and clear and she's upset about the fact that people think she was Photoshopped.  Her rep issued the following statement:

"She is in terrific shape and what you see is how she looks or she would never have agreed to pose for those shots. The only retouching was the usual work on skin tone that happens in every glamour shoot."

You know, because she's been so honest in the past about the way she looks, I believe her.  What about you?

I think she looks amazing. So glam movie star of a bygone era, bringing sexy back. That is the epitome of class, what a woman should look like, not all trashed out. I hope she reads this, and knows not to listen to haters. She is getting better as she ages, like fine wine and Katherine Denueve, and Sophia Loren, and other timeless, ageless, classic beauties of the silver screen. Pay no attention to the trolls typing in their Walmart tees hating on you, Kate, you are a vision in refinement and taste.

She is one of the most talented, stunning, natural women of our time. I don't think this looks photoshopped.

I don't think it's overly Photoshopped, not like an Angelina Jolie cover would be. I mean, she's a pampered diva with a mega-wealthy husband, she goes to spas and treatments all day. That's why she does these articles where she reminds people that she has a fat problem -- so they will think she is "just like them" and won't see how greedy she is. This is NOT the time to bring back movie star jet-set excess.

On the cover of GQ men magazine she quoated: "I just didn't want people to think I was a hypocrite and that I'd suddenly lost 30 lbs. or whatever," the youngest ever five-time Oscar nominee said at the time. "So I just came out and said, 'Look, I don't look like that'. I'm not mad at the magazine, but I have no intention of looking like that."
Interesting eh???

This is photoshopped to death and alot of hair and makeup. She has never been a great beauty the nose is different. But she looks amazing in any case gorgeous photos but she is a hypocrite.

I think ALL magazine photo spreads of celebs, etc. are photoshopped to some degree. I remember thinking, the first time I saw these pictures, how skinny she looked and maybe she lost a few pounds.

Having your hair and make-up professionally (and perfectly, I might add) done does not equal photoshopping. Most people who come on these blogs love to imagine that these people just look like you and I and photoshopping makes them as beautiful as they are. But guess what, they really are better looking than most of us. Yes, like her rep said, there are some standard things they do, but I really don't think they "reshaped her nose" or did anything much more than smoothing some skin on her body. She IS a beautiful woman and has always seemed very real and open about her appearance. Is it really necessary rip on her to make you feel better about not being happy with your own appearance? She has never once come across as hypocritical to me before - why would she all of a sudden start?

Something about this photoshoot doesn't sit well with me...She's been ghost for a while so I can believe that there was little photoshop done, but she has always been so verbal about her weight (gain vs. image) whatever...who isn't...now this high glamourous setting...I think she is just trying something different...the whole look...no big deal...I still love her...just hope she's not going the way of Tyra Banks...ms. I'm not fat, yes I am...photoshop me to death...blah, blah, blah...and I doubt she is.

I believe her. Anytime a celebrity is asked to be on the cover of a magazine, the magazine sends the celebrity a personal trainer to get ready for the shoot. A month or 2 months of intense working out will make you look this good. It's not like she was a fatty to begin with.

She is my most favorite actress. I love everything about her. I love her appearance, her voice, her personality. I would give millions (which I do not have) to meet her in person. That first quote in the article about how she envies other women and thinks now and again that she should make more of effort, but then thinks, nah, too much work. That's me!

I am always saying to my husband; I want to be more fancy, more glamorous, but then I forget and become just plain Jane me.

I love Kate and I absolutely believe her.

I'm willing to give Kate the benefit of the doubt. She has been unflinchingly honest since her early days as a young actress and I have always respected that. It's the same reason I respect Kiera Knightley, she speaks her mind and the rest of the world be damned! Kate has elegance, talent, poise, and honesty--I'd take her over any fabricated American star any day.

Ofcourse it's photo shopped ALL covers are re-touched, I must say she looks a lot like Sharon Stone on that photo, not liking her hair. I still like her though she seems to live in reality.

Is it just me, or is anyone else having a hard time seeing that this is kate winslett? They're WONDERFUL beautiful pictures, but they just, don't look like her. I don't know what it is, it may just be me, but I just don't see it. The cover page is the only one I can kinda see her. Maybe it's the blond hair. Either way, she's looking AMAZING and kudos to her on feeling so open about her body!

I think it's airbrushed but not Photoshopped. It's not as if she's showing anything that needs to be slimmed.
She's a hands-on Mom and spends her days raising her children, not in some spa being pampered. She's always been very open and down-to-earth so, yes, I believe her.

I totally believe her. She's one who is outspoken about being truthful in her public image. Even so, she's one of the strongest, most talented and most stunning actresses of our time.

p p said:

If you can't see that it's photoshopped, you're blind. The head is too big for the body in the cover shot. That is not her body, her legs are not that slim, and neither are her hips in the other photo. Kate looks great in real life, and I like her very much...but this is clearly photoshopped and looks nothing like her.

Anonymous123 Anonymous123 said:

this is vanity fair, so of course she was photoshopped

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I believe her too. She isn't like the Hollywood elite at all.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

How would you know what they do post-production? It should have been in writing pre-shooting that "No air-brush/photoshopping allowed".

These magazines make people look like digital prints and I hate it. Too much tweaking. Be natural.

I love Kate Winslet, chubby or not. Very natural.

This is the same actress who, years ago, proclaimed to the British press that she gave birth to her first child the natural way. Then a year or two later, she revised her story and admitted that her first child was born through c-section.

You guys are crazy.
i work in magazine and newspaper... I know retouching when I see it. Yes, her face and skin are retouched, that is standard. A multimillion dollar publication would not put a bruised blotchy star on their cover, especially if it's a fashion magazine. She has not been retouched to look thinner in this. You can retouch to look thinner when the contours of the body are visible, i.e. hips, thighs, inner arms, chest... Her legs are crossed and she has a large coat over her. What waist is there to make thinner? I feel like everyone gets caught up in hear say and rumors when they have no real knowledge of re-touching or photoshopping.

Anonymous123 Anonymous123 said:

totally agree with Chase! I can't believe how fvcking naive people are!!

Anonymous Anonymous said:

LOL @ people thinking those pics aren't photoshopped.

Really???

Doris Doris said:

First of all, there is a HUGE difference between simple airbrushing and actual photoshopping. It's common practice to airbrush a celebrity's (or cover model's) skin to remove blemishes, undereye bags or shadows, or any other "imperfections." Photoshopping, on the other hand, is much more complex, and involves "shaving" inches off a person's waist or thighs, adding more curve to the cleavage or hips, or lengthening the torso. Kate's rep very clearly states in that quote that the photos have NOT been photoshopped, but they HAVE been airbrushed. Why anyone would doubt that is beyond me. You can hardly see her body! Her legs look totally "real" to me, and to the people who say her hips and waist are "bigger" in real life... WHAT HIPS AND WAIST? I don't even see her hips and waist here! People are so jealous. Ridiculous.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Maybe not photoshopped - she probably had a face lift or some kinda work because for a woman her age her skin is ridiculosly smooth and tight. She did not look this young 10 years ago. This cover is her "coming out" after surgery party. She does look great though,

Ella Ella said:

Arguably one of the most beautiful women in the world; heavier or skinnier she's ten-million times classier than those LA skanks with their ratty extensions
