Pierce Brosnan Wants Theron Instead Of Jolie In The Thomas Crown Affair
Can you IMAGINE having to work with Pierce Brosnan after reading a quote where he tells the press he would rather someone else have your role?
Angelina Jolie is about to be placed in that very situation as Pierce recently told People Magazine that he is upset that Angelina signed on for The Thomas Crown Affair. He much rather work with Charlize Theron.
"Charlize Theron is someone who I’ve always admired. I think she’s someone who has acquitted herself grandly. Nothing against Angelina Jolie. I think she’s a magnificent actress. But Charlize has a poise about her and has an inner strength and femininity which I really like to watch."
This will either make Angelina want to take the role more to prove something to Pierce, or give it up as she really doesn't need the money. We shall see.

I don't think it sounds like he's not wanting to work with Angelina. I'd have to see the rest of the interview to understand what he means because it doesn't sound like he thinks she's wrong for the part, he's just praising Charlize as someone he admires.

Peirce honey, you need to stay out of the sun. When I was in Kauai a couple of weeks ago I took a helicopter tour and we flew near his house. We didn't go directly over it, as we stayed over the water. The pilot said that a few stars had homes in that area and Peirce was one of them. I did get a good look at his beach. I think he thought he thought Angelina was wrong for the part. Angelina does not give off a soft, feminine look, if that is what he wants.
I think he should have keep it to himself since Angie was already on board. If they had not picked anyone for the part yet, then I would not have seen anything wrong with him saying who he would have liked for the part. That is going to be weird on the set now, once she hears what he said.
Sounds he's saying Theron is much more of a lady than Holie. Understandable.

Well, everyone is entitled to an opinion but you don't really say this in public about your work colleague, do you? I like Charlize Theron, she's gorgeous and a very good actress. But so is Angelina Jolie. It really depends on the roles they get, some are obviously more suited than others. That goes for both Charlize and Angelina.
Agree as well that it was quite unnecessary of him to open his yapper when Angelina had already signed on to do the movie. And in all fairness, Angelina probably wanted to act opposite someone else as well. I don't know about you guys, but to me Pierce Brosnan's not really the epitome of "good actor", quite the opposite. I've seen him in a few films and I always find him so stiff and unable to convey any emotions... Maybe it's just me though.
Either way, I think Angelina's enough of a professional to ignore whatever negative comments people throw her way, but who really cares if he wanted Charlize instead? Now he's getting Angie - no matter how non-feminine she is.

How stupid can one be? To voice an opinion like this in public after the part was cast? Seems Mr Brosnan doesn't have much pull, if he doesn't have a say about co-stars in his own movie. Too bad for him too that his publicist had nothing better to do than to run to People and blab! I wonder if PB can deal with the ridicule of his fellow thesps...
He's probably afraid of being swallowed up in the hysteria that surrounds Angie's every move, and all the talk about her family. He would be a second class citizen on that movie, as far as press coverage is concerned, and he knows it. He wouldn't have that problem with Charlize.
Tacky, tacky, tacky. He knew that Angelina had already signed on and he probably knew that she would hear what he was saying about her. I'm guessing this is some sort of power play. Actors get all worried about being upstaged and who is getting more attention than them. He probably does things like this to try to intimidate who he is working with. And Charlize? She always looks like a mannequin to me. Gross.

A Mighty Heart and the voice overs are semi-exceptions to the rule. In all of her "actings" she is melodramatic. She was ridiculous in Wanted. She had a sour puss on the whole time and called it acting. She did not look tough, rather constipated.
The real problem is that Jolie can't act. Her one accent for every non-Jolie character that she plays is stupid. (A Mighty Heart, Troy, Beowul, etc). She sounds like that russian spy from the Rocky and Bullwinkle show.

agree. the voice overs are just cartoons anyway. when i took my niece to see kung fu, the entire line was filled with parents and their children. children loves cartoons and parents love movies that are family friendly. i doubt all does ppl were seeing the movie because angie was doing a voice over.

Angelina was terrible in Mighty Heart. Everybody keeps referring to this movie. I am not sure is it because she played someone who really exists and went through this tragedy and it rubbed off on Angelina. But common, this woman has no depth in acting at all.
While I have nothing against the lovely Ms. Jolie, it does not take a rocket scientist to deduce that Chatleze Theron is a much better actress than Jolie. Can't say I blame Pierce Brosnan on this one, even though he's always seemed douchey to me.

Has anyone ever addressed Pierce's wife Sheely's weight issues. I used to think she was beautiful when they first got together, but she's just gotten so huge. Does she have a medical condition or something? This cannot be healthy for her.

I am a HUGE Thomas Crown Affair and my not wanting Angelina Jolie in the sequel has little to do with the overblown controversy of her personal life and more to do with the fact that it isn't possible for her to be in a movie and not dominate the whole thing (for whatever reason). She is incapable of being subtle and TCA is more intellectual than dramatic. It will call for someone who is capable of sharing the screen.
so what? it will probably be another bomb. he is probably just another actor that doesn't want to get buried in the whole jolie-pitt show. i can understand that. a lot of talent actress get overlooked because producers rely so much on her presence to sell their film. they don't care about talent or who fits the role best, they want to sell. he is entitled to his opinion just like everybody else. and it is clear he doesn't want to work with her.
At last, well done sir. Of course you don't want to work with her- who would? I would rather stick pins in my eyes than watch her overacting as usual. As for his wife,maybe he is one of the millions of men that don't find anorexia attractive?

Can you blame him for making such a TRUTHFUL remark? Jolie has become a media joke. Who doesn't make fun of her anymore? No actor serious about their craft and reputation would want to work alongside the likes of Jolie. Maybe a few years back, but not any longer. Look what just happened to Clint Eastwood's movie with Jolie at the helm. Don't kid yourself, no one is paying to see that girl trying to pretend she's some kind of artsy actress. As the media itself has already pointed out, Jolie is a one-dimensional actor. What you see, is all you get. She won that Oscar for Girl Interrupted because she was basically playing herself. She's noted for being a nutjob, and it shone through in that movie. Brosan is right, Theron would be a much better choice for the role. Hire Jolie and the movie will flop.

I like Angelina's acting skills (especially Girl, Interrupted), but I have to say that I prefer Theron. She's such a classic beauty.
RE: Pierce's wife's weight is due to a thyroid condition. He is not the type of man to "throw away" a woman due to illness (like his first wife--she died!) or to thyroids (present wife).
Pierce can't accept a 'real' woman dishing her cool and power to match and wants candy-fluff pot smoker and a willing playmate.
He was young, handsome, a millionaire - and he'd just pulled off the perfect crime! She was young, beautiful, a super sleuth - sent to investigate it!

Or perhaps he thinks she just isn't right for the part. Remember that none of us know the part they are filling. I have a feeling it's not going to be Katherine Banning, but something new. Although a follow-up to see what happened to Katherine and Thomas would have been ideal...
why are people talking about his wife? when somebody said weight gain, i expected to see 'nutty professor fat,' this woman is not that big. i think she is pretty lovely and not every man wants a stick thin woman. alos, he is right about angie. people, for some reason, are crazy interested in her personal life. at moments i forget she is even an attress. there is no longer a brad pitt or angelinga jolie, it's brangelina. these two are so buried in that brand name that it is pathetic. the media curicus that surronds them is astonishing to say the least. it is the media that continuously make these two out to be more than they actually are.

You can say whatever you want, but Keely Shaye Smith is fat. Now that doesn't mean she is unattactive or that Pierce should dump her...but come on, she is very heavy, especially by Hollywood standards, which are unrealistic anyway. But let's not get all PC and sensitive about this like a couple of posters have done...she is overweight and does not look her best. That's just a fact.

Has Angelina even signed on? In her recent interviews Angelina says the only thing she has lined up is Edwin A. Salt (don't know if they changed the name). Was Charlize Theron even interested in Thomas Crown? I think it's really stupid to publically say you hate the person you're working with before they even get on set, before even meeting them. That's going to make shooting very uncomfortable.

she isn't signed up to do 'salt' until 2010. the next thing she will do is 'atlas shrugged(2009). evidently she is being considered for this role otherwise he wouldn't have come out and said that. people didn't just make up something to bash angie about, they are giving their opinions on a quote.

I have to agree with him. Jolie has been getting all these recent roles because of Brad's connections. I am not a hater but Jolie is NOT a good actress. Except when she played a psycho (basically herself) she always plays too hard in every movie and keeps pouting. I never able to see who is it she plays, because I always see Jolie in every role;It is never her character but always her. She has almost no range. Besides she has been in tabloids so much I just cannot take her seriously.
Theron is much better actress and will look great for that role.
it is hard to separate jolie from her characters because we see too much of her and we know too much about her. she only has herself to blame for that because she is such a media whore and just needs attention all the time. she was a popular actress before pitt but nobody paid this much attention to her.

Angelina is not planning to do this movie - she's only filming Salt in Feb 09 and the KFP sequel - at the moment - me thinks Pierce is getting a bit a head of himself.
Angelina can't act and her movies mostly never do well at the BO. She is one dimensional and will turn that character in to a femme fatale. A deep man like Brosnan who has a curvy wife should know quality when he sees it. Besides the lack of acting chops, there is the hoopla that surrounds her that ruins the movie. Look at AMH and now changeling. Even Wanted in the end did not do as well despite having a huge opening weekend. I don't find her beautiful at all. Her head is too big and her looks are too much make up.
Most celebs in hollywood don't like Angelina anyway.
the hoopla that surrounds her is, indeed, what ruins the movies. she has to try and sell every movie with even more intimiate details about her life. does anybody find it a coincident that angie was suddenly seen all around with her kids when her movie was about to debut? i was the one who said she was just staying in hiding to make people anticipation(for a lack of words) build. she feels has if she is that important. everybody talks about how celebrities whore out their kids, but nobody ever wants to call out these two.

My best (male!) friend thinks angelina is ugly & looks like a man with boobies and skinny legs. That being said, not everyone in the world worships angelina, and why the hell is pierce's wife a problem? At least is good to see someone being married with a regular, non-supermodel-type woman.
