PETA Member Showers Lindsay Lohan With Flour
I just got an email from PETA who directed me to a post with the following text. They wanted me to know that one of their members showered Lindsay Lohan
with a full bag of flour because she's worn fur a few times this year.
Lindsay Lohan's tan turned noticeably paler tonight after an anti-fur activist showered her with flour at a nightclub in Paris. Lindsay was on her way into the VIP room on the Champs-Elysées just after 1 a.m. early Saturday when she had an entire bag of flour dumped over her head by a French fur foe who shouted, "Lindsay Lohan—fur hag!" Lohan has enraged animal lovers by appearing in at least two different fur coats in recent days, despite PETA's repeated pleas that she consider how animals suffer for every fur garment and stop wearing their skins.
What do you think about what happened? I am going to withhold my comment because I am unable to express myself and keep with the tone of the site.

I hate PETA, altho I would never wear fur, I still wear leather products and eat meat. They have NO respect for anyones property. I think if they have a message to put out there they are going about it the wrong way. All this does is make people hate them. You just don't go dumping red dye and flour on people and expect that to be exceptable behavior.

Umm isnt that assault and shouldnt that person be charged? How does a company go around getting away with this stuff? It amounts to intimidation tactics. I love how these people attack movie stars and the like who are likely not to retailiate. If they want to impress me go to a Hells Angels convention and attack them for wearing leather !

The person who pour flour on Lindsay is not a PETA member, Vera is assuming they are, based on their actions and because PETA send her a email telling her of the story. Vera ran along with it, and claims in her title "PETA MEMBER" without checking the facts first. As for you bitches who insist on wearing fur, go to PETA and see the video on live animals being skinned alive. I've never seen something so hideous and macabre.

I'm against fur, I don't wear leather and I'm transitioning into a vegetarian diet (I've cut out all meat but I'm still working on fish) but it might be worth it to wear a fur just to piss off those PETA people. They honestly take it too far and alienate so many people by their actions, they're just hurting their cause and it's sad because it's a truly noble cause.

Do you notice that PETA only picks on woman who would have a hard time defending themselves, what about picking on some of the rappers like snoop, ice-t, jay-z, ludacris, p-diddy who wear fur. No, they would get smacked in the face, so they go around preying- yes preying on these frail women. So repulsive. If I ever got anything ruined by PETA I would be seeing them in court suing them for assault and they would be paying me enough money for me to buy 10 of whatever it was they ruined in the first place.

Uh, Dee Dee, animals DON'T eat each other. That's actually how Mad Cow Disease originated, in fact -- cows ate infected cow brain matter that had been incorporated into their food. Yummy. Oh, and chances are good that the rabbit scarf you just purchased was probably made and manufactured in China, which means that it's probably made of cat or dog fur. Not rabbit. Not that it makes it any more excusable. Enjoy the withering glares you recieve from the general public when you wear it. You're an idiot, and you deserve it.

Yes, you're right. Carnivorous behavior is SO COMMON among mammals -- especially the ones WE eat! Why, just the other morning, I observed a pig totally going to town on a plate of bacon. Totally normal.
Pigs will eat ANYTHING. Go to a farm sometime. or see about wild hogs. and pigs, by the way, are like us, OMNIVORES. A CARNIVORE is a MAMMAL, like a LION, a TIGER, a BEAR, a WOLF....do you need to go back to school?

That was a slip-up on my part, and you are right in correcting me. However, since we're playing the uber-tw@tty Anal Retentive Check Your Language Game, I wanted to let you know that not ALL animals ARE omnivores or carnivores. Some are HERBIVORES (I know you like caps and everything), too.
Of course, some animals eat others. But that is NOT the point. They don't deliberately put the one they want (have) to eat in a small cage and cut off its tail and testicles and beaks and keep them forever in a cage so small they can't even turn around. They don't deliberately torture. Humans do. They don't rip off the fur of the other just so they can look pretty.
I wished some of the people who write comments here would think a bit clearer.

Go Ernestine! The "rabbit" fur is definitely from a poor cat or dog who lived a VERY harsh life in China, only to have it end in being skinned alive and then worn by a selfish human with no heart. I have seen the graphic videos on the web.

Do you wear leather? The point is, there are things that people do that are harmful to animals. I don't wear fur and don't know many people who do but PETA's approach really makes me want to start.
Both of you are idiots (you and Ernestine). Telling people not to eat meat or wear fur is futile- AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN. Telling people not to wear fur or eat meat is like telling teenagers to practice abstinence. What PETA should be promoting is the ethical treatment of animals (like their name says), telling people to ensure that animals are killed humanely not cruelly. Why don't they come up with some kind of branding like we have for fair trade food, so that we know which animal products are cruelty free. They end up euthanizing the animals they rescue any way. If you are going to try to force the world to adopt your point of view instead of compromising with ours, you are not going to accomplish much.

I never told anyone not to eat meat or wear fur. I don't care if they do or not, I was just stating the facts about what animals go through for fur. I NEVER TOLD ANYONE TO DO S H I T. Well, see, since you brought it up (in such an illogical and unrelated way, but whatever), I sort of made the personal choice to refrain from wh0ring it up in high school. I waited to have sex. I also never ate meat around that same time period. Wow. I wasn't eating burgers or giving up my poon to awkward, pimply young men. I must have been SUCH a loser. I'm not suggesting that abstinence from sex and meat go hand in hand, but I at least had the resolve to make some personal choices for myself and stick with them.

When i was 4 my grandfathers friend gave me a rabbit pelt, I never dreamed that they killed the animal to get the fur, when I found out I was traumatized, I had bunnies back then as pets and still have two now. Doesn't have much to do with your scarf but it reminded me of it.

The only beef (ha ha) I have with PETA are their tactics. Animal cruelty is a serious issue (and skinning animals alive or anally electrocuting them simply for a fu**ing coat IS cruel), but I also know that junior high pranks aren't going to sway anyone to the compassionate side. Still, Lindsay is a skanky piece of crap and I find this hilarious. I also can't wait for pictures.

But i'm all for real leather and fur... No Fake Brands and No Fake Leather. If i cannot afford it i don't buy it. There's cotton, silk, wool, not just fur!
If PETA had any real balls at all, they wouldn't go after Blohan. I DARE them to go to a biker rally where people wear animal fur and leather and try their sh1t there. if you read the peta blog you will notice that in no way are they endorsing this persons actions. nowhere does it say it was a peta member or someone acting on peta's behalf. they made mention, that this person is an"anti-fur activist". peta is not responsible for all individuals who may believe in animal rights in one way or another. shame on you ms. "i am not obsessed" for implying that it was peta was behind this aggresive incident.

If it was the fur in the posted pics, that fur doesn't even look real! So how does one assume the fur that she was wearing is even real? Do PETA actvisits really have that well trained of an eye? I think not. I just don't prefer the look of fur (fake or not) but there are some very good imitations out there...

Attacking another person like that is uncalled for. Even if it is real ful, she didn't skin the animal herself, so whatever. Either they are running around aimlessly looking for fur, or someone in these Celebritie's Camps are tipping PETA off ahead of time, or they might even be tipped off by the the store where they bought the so-called Fur. if that's the case...PETA has waaaay too much time on their hands. That energy could be better spent elsewhere. I mean, look how quickly they sent out a friggin' press release to this site and others? Plus, isn't that destruction of private property? I would press charges on them! Instead of the media and other people simply reporting on what they do (giving them more publicity) the tables should be turned on them. I think PETA takes the "attack" approach too far and they should draw a line if they want to be more respected, but want they want to do is draw attention so they won't draw that boundary.
However, there is no reason to own fur in the world anymore, simply because we have created synthetic fibers that are even warmer than fur -- it's just to show off how much money one has, which is horrible and not the cost of an animal's life. I just think that buying fur nowadays is simply for status, not for warmth which is what it was originally intended for.

I just saw a really cute coat with fur collar but I didn't buy it,. Now I'm going to go back and purchase it to wear proudly just because of this. PETA sucks.

I can't stand radicals who impose their beliefs upon others with acts of violence. Why can't they raise funding and open sites that support the animals they wish to "protect".....or would the planet be overrun with the little critters in time? I eat meat, fish, and seafoods, i wear leather, and i also adopt homeless animals from shelters. If more civilized attention were paid to the method of killing the animals raised for their fur, i think PETA would sit down, shut up, and stop making vigilanties of themselves.

Right. And if you do choose to wear fur, you're making the overt statement that you do NOT care at all about animals or their welfare. And you should also expect to receive dozens of rightly-deserved withering glares from the general public.
No -- deliberately hurting or participating in hurting (torture in this case) another sentient being (yes, animals do have brains and nervous systems that feel pain as we do) is NOT anyone's personal business.
At one time not so long ago - beating your wife--who you owned-- was personal business. Perhaps not nice, but it was the husband's right and decisions. I think PETA and their members are hypocrites. They hate violence against animals but they have no problem using violence against people? Just because they use flour or paint doesn't mean it isn't violence. I also think it's really lame that they are attacking 5 foot 21 year old girls like Lindsay and the Olsen Twins. They definately don't have the guts to attack people who would fight back.
PETA is not violent toward people. PETA is concerned with animal welfare so it uses publicity to bring it to the forefront. Violence implies '1 a: exertion of physical force so as to injure or abuse (as in warfare effecting illegal entry into a house) b: an instance of violent treatment or procedure' (Merriam Webster)
This is no more violence than children in kindergarten pulling hair or making faces. Nobody was hurt and there is no physical violence. Ashton Kutcher's 'Punk'd' was way more violent if you ask me. For that matter, most reality shows are very violent.Celebrities are accouuntable for the messages that they send out, unlike you and me, because millions of idiots idolize and follow them.

not every animal is skinned alive. My mother in Russia breeds rabbits. Their meat goes for food and their fur is used to make clothes or being sold. These animals are killed first.
To do a really good deed PETA should bring attention of the governments to make sure that used fur is produced with a minimum cruelty. The same for the leather, meat, eggs etc.
