I just got an email from PETA who directed me to a post with the following text. They wanted me to know that one of their members showered Lindsay Lohan
with a full bag of flour because she’s worn fur a few times this year.
Lindsay Lohan’s tan turned noticeably paler tonight after an anti-fur activist showered her with flour at a nightclub in Paris. Lindsay was on her way into the VIP room on the Champs-Elysées just after 1 a.m. early Saturday when she had an entire bag of flour dumped over her head by a French fur foe who shouted, “Lindsay Lohan-fur hag!” Lohan has enraged animal lovers by appearing in at least two different fur coats in recent days, despite PETA’s repeated pleas that she consider how animals suffer for every fur garment and stop wearing their skins.
What do you think about what happened? I am going to withhold my comment because I am unable to express myself and keep with the tone of the site.

Love PETA, it’s so difficult these days to fith for something you stand against and for. I think this guys just feel so much love for animals and it hurts them to see how people like this almost lesbian, almost actres, almost singer are just having fun with inocent animals. She just could dredd with everything else !!

The only beef (ha ha) I have with PETA are their tactics. Animal cruelty is a serious issue (and skinning animals alive or anally electrocuting them simply for a fu**ing coat IS cruel), but I also know that junior high pranks aren’t going to sway anyone to the compassionate side. Still, Lindsay is a skanky piece of crap and I find this hilarious. I also can’t wait for pictures.

if you read the peta blog you will notice that in no way are they endorsing this persons actions. nowhere does it say it was a peta member or someone acting on peta’s behalf. they made mention, that this person is an”anti-fur activist”. peta is not responsible for all individuals who may believe in animal rights in one way or another. shame on you ms. “i am not obsessed” for implying that it was peta was behind this aggresive incident.

If it was the fur in the posted pics, that fur doesn’t even look real! So how does one assume the fur that she was wearing is even real? Do PETA actvisits really have that well trained of an eye? I think PETA takes the “attack” approach too far and they should draw a line if they want to be more respected, but want they want to do is draw attention so they won’t draw that boundary.
However, there is no reason to own fur in the world anymore, simply because we have created synthetic fibers that are even warmer than fur — it’s just to show off how much money one has, which is horrible and not the cost of an animal’s life. I just think that buying fur nowadays is simply for status, not for warmth which is what it was originally intended for.

I can’t stand radicals who impose their beliefs upon others with acts of violence. Why can’t they raise funding and open sites that support the animals they wish to “protect”…..or would the planet be overrun with the little critters in time? I eat meat, fish, and seafoods, i wear leather, and i also adopt homeless animals from shelters. If more civilized attention were paid to the method of killing the animals raised for their fur, i think PETA would sit down, shut up, and stop making vigilanties of themselves.

Go Ernestine! The “rabbit” fur is definitely from a poor cat or dog who lived a VERY harsh life in China, only to have it end in being skinned alive and then worn by a selfish human with no heart. I have seen the graphic videos on the web.

When i was 4 my grandfathers friend gave me a rabbit pelt, I never dreamed that they killed the animal to get the fur, when I found out I was traumatized, I had bunnies back then as pets and still have two now. Doesn’t have much to do with your scarf but it reminded me of it.
To be fair there are a lot of animals that eat other animals, the difference is that they need to eat those animals to survive and we don’t. Not that I can’t comment on it cause I’ve eaten meat.

I think PETA and their members are hypocrites. They hate violence against animals but they have no problem using violence against people? PETA is not violent toward people. PETA is concerned with animal welfare so it uses publicity to bring it to the forefront. Telling people not to wear fur or eat meat is like telling teenagers to practice abstinence. What PETA should be promoting is the ethical treatment of animals (like their name says), telling people to ensure that animals are killed humanely not cruelly. Why don’t they come up with some kind of branding like we have for fair trade food, so that we know which animal products are cruelty free. They end up euthanizing the animals they rescue any way. If you are going to try to force the world to adopt your point of view instead of compromising with ours, you are not going to accomplish much.

not every animal is skinned alive. My mother in Russia breeds rabbits. Their meat goes for food and their fur is used to make clothes or being sold. These animals are killed first.
To do a really good deed PETA should bring attention of the governments to make sure that used fur is produced with a minimum cruelty. The same for the leather, meat, eggs etc.

At one time not so long ago – beating your wife–who you owned– was personal business. Perhaps not nice, but it was the husband’s right and decisions. Hanging black slaves in trees and killing them was the business of whites — accepted practice. Now there are still the animals being tortured by us everywhere. There will come a day that humanity looks back at animal torture that occurs everywhere with shame.
Of course, some animals eat others. But that is NOT the point. They don’t deliberately put the one they want (have) to eat in a small cage and cut off its tail and testicles and beaks and keep them forever in a cage so small they can’t even turn around. They don’t deliberately torture. Humans do. They don’t rip off the fur of the other just so they can look pretty.

I’m against fur, I don’t wear leather and I’m transitioning into a vegetarian diet (I’ve cut out all meat but I’m still working on fish) but it might be worth it to wear a fur just to piss off those PETA people. As has been stated, it’s not clear that this was a PETA sanctioned action. There are some questionable things that PETA has done, but this may have been a random act.

I have been a vegetarian for nearly 20 years, I do not wear fur or leather, and I volunteer at animal shelters. I simply LOVE animals, and not surprisingly I applaud PETA’s efforts to bring these issues to the forefront of peoples’ minds. If they have to use mindless celebs to do it, so be it. If the choice is being on Lindsey Lohan’s side (or the Olsen twins!) versus the defenseless animals—-sorry, my loyalty will lay with the animals every single time.

Whether or not people choose to wear leather often depends on how they feel about the ethics of the meat industry. But it’s not uncommon for strict veggies to be ok with wearing it – considering it as a by-product of meat farming.
The fur trade, however, is another question. Animals are skinned alive, and left to die in excrutiating pain. They are not eaten. They are not killed before anything gruesome happens.
We need to stop associating the meat trade (which has its own moral questions, sure) with the fur trade (which doesn’t even try to have morals).
