Leonardo DiCaprio Isn't Ungrateful
Leonardo DiCaprio NEVER gives the paparazzi an easy shot. That's really turned a lot of fans off in the past. People think he's ungrateful for his fame and influence. But, Leo says that's not so...he's just trying to live his life without other people making money off him.
Actually, I’m not in the tabloids anymore. I am sometimes, but I’ve
watched the culture change. I’m old hat. And I love it. You know what
it is with me? This is something I’d like to clarify. I’ve heard people
say, “Because you hide, it makes you seem ungrateful.” The mere fact
that these—I’ll use the word piles—are earning money from exploiting my
image is the only reason I hide myself or am not a photo-friendly
person. I do not like the way they conduct themselves. I think they’re
disrespectful and dangerous. The reason I don’t pose or smile or that I
seem mad is that I don’t want them to make a living off my private life.
What do you think? Leonardo is at the point in his career where he no longer needs the paparazzi attention to get him buzz and land the big roles. So then is it fair he says he doesn't want them making a living off his photos?

His points are completely valid. I personally do not watch movies based on who I see in the media. He's already established himself as a good actor so he doesn't need much exposure.

I agree with him 100%! The "piles" (nice choice btw) should stick to stalking the likes of Heidi Mongag and Spencer Brat, et al. I'm upset that I even know their names since they haven't done anything for anyone anywhere.
It doesn't hurt that Leo is delicious for me to agree with him though! ; )

I disagree. He makes money because he's a good actor. Exposure only gets you so far - if you don't have the talent to back it up..you are over. LOL

not wanting your private life exploited doesn't make you ungrateful for your success.
But Im sure he didnt mind the paparazzi when he was trying to get his foot in the Hollywood door. Im not saying you should always welcome and smile to photogs but dont forget you werent famous at one point. And yes he is ungrateful, this is the man who refused to attend the 1998 Oscars because he wasn't nominated.

Are you kidding be? His most recent roles have been amazing. Blood Diamond? The Departed? Revolutionary Road? Even The Aviator are all amazing movies that actually mean something. As as for him beinga sex symbol, he just grew up! Instead if having a cute/hot face and body, he's just plain sexy now! There are millions of fans who would do anything to meet him. Don't kid yourself!
I think he is absolutely right. If I became famous and had the paparazzi after me, I would probably try to stay out of it as much as possible. These creatures make their money stalking celebrities, and then selling the images for big money. I'd be posing on red carpets and other events, but when out doing some shopping or hanging out at the beach? Not so much.
Leo is a real actor!!!!!!!!!! He started to act way before all those paparazzi-craziness years... these days actors-sses who REALLY want to act (because they are talented and passionate) must be really sure,,,that was not that crazy ten years ago!! All the stupids attention whore (like Paris, Heidi,etc) make the paparazzi richer and more powerful!! WHen they are really agressive, they can make SOOOOOO much money!!! Love Leo!!!

all i can say is as a simple girl whose dream a lot, that someday i wish to meet leonardo dicaprio, in personal since i was in grade school i wish already to met someone like him, but iknow its hard to happen but i never give up just to continue and to prove my self that even im not as popular as a celebrity or whatever it is .i know theres nothing impossible when you have the correge to follow your heart to fulfiel your dreams....as long as you believe in your self that you can!! mwwwwwaaaahhh
