Gwyneth Paltrow Apologizes To PETA For Wearing Fur
I think by now most of you know how I feel about PETA. Let's leave it at that. But, they obviously have influence over what some celebrities wear since Gwyneth Paltrow has officially apologized for wearing fur during a photo shoot for Tod's. Here's what PETA wrote about her wearing fur:
“Gwyneth Paltrow won’t be the apple of her daughter’s eye if she
continues to flaunt fur.It’s a terrible example to set for a young
child, promoting an industry that electrocutes animals, snaps their
necks and skins them alive.”
And Gwyneth responded:
“That was awkward, and I’m glad you asked, because I do not wear fur at
all. It was a daylong photo shoot on a boat near Capri, and there were
all sorts of poses with all kinds of clothes—none with fur. During one
set-up, a stylist came up from behind and draped a stole around my
shoulders. I didn’t pay much attention to it, and when I noticed it was
fur I assumed it was fake fur but did not ask, so it’s my
fault. I was very surprised when they ended up using that one shot out
of hundreds for the centerpiece of the Tod’s ads. I know it’s not a
great excuse, but I hope you and your members understand.”
So now that PETA and Gwyneth have kissed and made up the organization is hoping that she'll participate in their ‘Meat’s Not Green’ campaign since she and her family are "pretty much vegetarian."

I agree, "pretty much vegetarian" doesn't mean a thing ! I've been a vegetarian for five years now and i'm TIRED of people pretending they are vegetarian when they eat fish and even occasionally meat ! It's an everyday sacrifice so either you do it or not, but don't pretend to be veg' if you're not convinced enough to do it 100% !

If an animal is electrocuted and has it's neck snapped, how can it be skinned alive???????????!!!!!!!!!!!! Wouldn't it be dead?

The animals are killed different in ways, go to PETA if you care. There is a video of an animal being skinned alive. I could not get the image out of my mind for days. This animal is stuggling, while the asian man cuts his skin with a knife, then proceeds to pull the skin from feet to head from the furry little animal. All this is done while the little creature is still alive. Afterwards, they throw the live animal in a pile, as the camera zooms in, you can see blood on his face. I must warn you the video is very graphic. I don't agree with some of PETA's actions, but they want to bring attention to an industry that practices such violent and cruel behavior towards animals.
I don't understand. If 'they' electrocute the animals and snap their necks, how are they skinned alive?? I would think that after being electrocuted and having their necks snapped they would pretty much be dead.

They kill animals when there is no other recourse. Some animals can't be adopted into a loving home, or they are sick from abuse and years of torture. They kill the animals in a humane way. They are put to sleep, they are not skinned alive for their fur.
Apparently you don't remember when, here in Norfolk, VA, PETA was picking up animals and euthanaising them in the back of their vans, rather than even ATTEMPTING to find them homes. People called PETA, because they thought PETA would be no-kill. Turns out they would have had a better change at the SPCA. They SLAUGHTERED hundreds of animals. By contrast, the Norfolk SPCA places 73% of animals in their shelter. PETA breaks their own rules just because they think they're above it, and it's a means to an end. PETA is a terrible organization. They really do not care about animals. They are a political organization with strong ties to domestic terrorist groups. They themselves are directly responsible for the deaths of many, many cats and dogs that were surrendered to their "shelter" program. No one who truly cares about animals should ever support that organization.

If you are going to accuse people of something so serious you need to provide a link, some facts to your statement would be great. PETA is not againts killing animals, they do do it, they have admitted to doing it. Is the ways the fur industry use to get the fur. Having your skin ripped off you, while you're alive, I'm sure is not fun for those animals.

Who really CARES *what* PETA thinks,anyway? Who do they think they are, the fashion police? She doesn't need to apologize to THEM! Last time I checked it's a free country and you can wear what you want,and no one needs to ask their "permission". If you want to wear fur, then by all means, go ahead and wear fur.It's none of their business.

I am sure knew it was a real fur but I am glad she responded. Say not to fur. It is 100% cruel and is only for vanity nothing else. It has no use beside vanity and fashion.

I guess the reason Gwyneth responded was it kept her in the media for a bit longer. She isn't a vegetarian by the way. I don't really see the need for anyone to apologise to PETA. They have their opinion and other people have a different one. As for fur being just for vanity and fashion... you can argue that with pretty much everything that is made out of leather. Tell me, do you have something made out of leather in your wardrobe, shoes for example? Think before you condemn someone.

In PETA's honor I think I'll wear my fur hat, suede belt, alligator shoes, eat steak, go to Korea and order dog meat,leather jacket, do some animal testing on rabbits, some scientific research on lab mice and rats, club a few baby seals, go hunting and fishing and the like! Get the point? PETA can kiss my hairy a$$ ! How's THAT for "fur?"
