Winona Ryder Overdosed On Tranquilizers

Yesterday we heard that a British Airways flight had to make an emergency landing because of a medical problem on board. The female passenger that was ill was Winona Ryder. Turns out she's terrified of flying and ended up taking too many tranquilizers in an effort to calm her nerves.
Ryder is thought to have collapsed twice on board the transatlantic BA flight after taking too many Xantax pills for anxiety.
No shame in being afraid of flying. Sure the statistics tell us that it's safer than driving, but then along comes a tragedy like what happened to Travis Barker and DJ AM and you realize that anything could happen...

i knew it was drug related...
OF COURSE SHE DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I'M SURE SHE JUSTED WANTED TO GET HIGH NO PUN INTENDED!!!
It's Xanax - not Xan"T"ax.
i take xanax when i fly too and have never had a problem. she must have taken a HELLUVA lot for this to happen. xanax is a perfectly legitimate way to handle flight anxiety and many people take it. aside from flying i never touch drugs and barely drink so this doesn't necessarily make her a druggie.
True statement, but we are talking about A) a celebrity, B) a celebrity with a past history of drugs and last C) a celebrity.

I use it to fly too! It can be scary up there! I hope she's all better.
If I watched that dog any longer, I'd need Xanax too;)
LISTEN HEATH LEGER TOOK SOME XANAX TOO.

While usually it feels great to be vindicated, this time around, as drugs are involved, not so much. But it's Wino, so what did people expect? Queasy stomach? Not really! Not after her 20+ years history of not being compatible with certain substances. Some people never learn!
I have taken Xanax before and just ONE pill made me drowsy! I wish Winona would "get her act together" and get clean and sober once and for all!
I wonder if she shoplifted the XANAX from the Pharmacy
She has a history of drug issues, so the Xanax as a crutch for a fear of flying is a slightly dubious claim. And yes, two celebs recently had a flight incident but that was on a tiny little plane and this was a commercial flight which is (generally) much safer. I hope she gets it together.

There is nothing wrong with taking some meds to calm yourself before a flight but my gut tells me this sounds really fishy. I bet more will come out about this.
A couple pills would make you fall asleep, but to go to the hospital she had to have overdosed basically.

I have a fear of flying as well. I take Xanax before the flight, and if it feels like it's not enough, then during the flight as well. My anxiety level is so high on the plane, that ir feels like Xanax doesnt even help. Of course, when we finally touch down on the runway, my anxiety level plummets, but I have all that Xanax still working in my system. It kind of sucks. I wish I was one of those people who could sleep on the plane, or read a book, talk to a neighbor.....but I have to be Xaned out in order for me to make it. I also watch movies on my laptop so that does help a little . ***annie***

I call B.S. She's such an easy target - people believe anything negative about her, sadly.

It is "Xanax". But I guess it is a good thing that you did not know that. :-)
Xanax can knock you on your rear, that is for sure. But still, I bet there is more to this story. What has happened to this girl?

im glad people cleared it up that its called Xanax, not Xantax. Grammatical errors like that irritate me!
anyway....
I don't have any fear of flying whatsoever....I'm cool as a cucumber.
If DJ AM or Travis Barker had taken tranquilizers prior to flying they might not have gotten out in time. I'd rather be able to react if necessary and not doped and confused.
i just happened to have taken four xanaxes last night, smoked pot, and had at least ten (hard) drinks (i'm not too smart). but i was absolutely fine (i didn't even feel tired). I'm only like 5'3" 105lbs and i am not a heavy drug user....So she had to have taken A LOT of xanax to overdose. I know people who take like eight xanaxes and are perfectly normal. But I don't encourage this....Don't do drugs, they are very bad. I think "fear of flying" is just an excuse.
