Michelle Williams Is Sick Of The Paparazzi

Michelle Williams is sick over how the paparazzi won't stop trying to get close to Matilda. Her motherly instincts are kicking in double time.

"It burns a fire inside of me, the s**t that I’ve seen people do to get at me or my daughter. I won’t forget it, and I won’t support it. I don’t want my daughter growing up feeling spied on or threatened."

Michelle even remembers one instance where she tried to reason with a photographer and show her a different light.

"I said, ‘You’re better than this. Look at you! You’re young, you’re able-bodied, you have a brightness in your eyes. You’re above this.’ But you know what? She didn’t go away."

The constant observation has prompted Williams to seriously think about leaving her home in New York - and walking away from her acting career:

"If it gets to the point where I can’t situate my life in a way that they stay away more, then I’ll drop a match on the thing.
"I’ll be sad. I like to act. It’s saved my life over and over again. It’s given me a sense of self-esteem, self-worth. I have this thing that I’m in love with… and now it has this baggage."

And even though time has passed, Michelle still constantly thinks about losing Heath Ledger. How can she NOT when Matilda looks exactly like him?

"It’s so sad… I just wake up each day in a slightly different place. Grief is like a moving river. It’s a strange thing to say, because I’m at heart an optimistic person, but I would say, in some ways, it just gets worse. It’s just that the more time that passes, the more you miss someone."

i hate what the paparazzi does to the celeb kids too...its almost inhumane, the aggression they act out for just a good photo, however that being said being a celeb comes with its perks (major perks). way more perks than most careers, so the downside is going to be a lot harsher too. it balances out. not many people are completely happy with all aspects of their jobs, so its something they have to weigh out like the rest of us...it sucks for everyone, but its reality.

I don't think one of the "perks" of being a celebrity is being constantly harrassed and abused on a daily basis.

I still don't think the kids should be fair game. They didn't sign up for this and most of them are still little yet. To me it's disturbing that the paps can be that invasive when it comes to the little ones.

She seems like a sweet person and good mom. I'm really sorry to see her harrassed.

Somebody like Julia Roberts can live in semi-obscurity and come out for the occasional role she still wants to do. Perhaps a compromise of that sort would be workable. How often do you see Julia and her kids being hounded?

That's not a good life to live. Things have really gotten out of hand and everyone seems to agree about celebrities being truly stalked. But why isn't anything being done?

No celebrity deserves to be harassed. That is not part of the job, or "they asked for it, they get to be rich, too bad so sad." Seriously. Of course they're going to be in the public eye, but things have gone way too far. And anyone who thinks they deserve it, just think of what happened to Princess Diana.

The paparazzi are literally ruining people's lifes. It's only a matter of time before something horiffic happens...then maybe something will get done.

Celebrities always say this, they want to move away or stop acting whenever the paps harasses them. But then they realize how great the money is and the perks that come along with it. They never leave the industry. The kids should not be harassed though; but I don't feel sorry for the celebrities, many of them call the paps to tell them where they'll be.

Celebrities have choices, if they dont like the attention they get then get out of the business. Every job has good and bad we all deal with it every day of our lives and if someone dislikes a job that much then go do something else. Celebrities have the luxury of affording to move whenever and anywhere they want but their EGO wont let them be out of the spotlight and they are the ones bringing this into their children's lives. Im not defending the paps but they are there because of what they are "celebrities" and like it or not paps can make or break a celebrity and thats why pictures sell as much as they do. if you dont like being a "celebrity" go take a job at a regular office, clinic, hospital anywhere really so you give your children the so called NORMAL life they always talk about.

Where are these quotes from, a recent magazine interview? If so, what magazine? Source please? :)

I believe it's from Newsweek

Methinks this is BS

All I hear is a lot of jealousy when people say "they asked for it".

Well, all I am seeing is a big contradiction in her: she says being a world-class actress gave her self-esteem, but then she criticizes the exposure...

As for her kid, she should know that if you continue making movies AND living in New York as a mother, your kids will be exposed as well. I don't recall Cate Blanchett, Johnny Depp or J-Lo's kids to be photographed that often.

You can't get the power and confidence that comes with celebrity without being dangerously exposed, that's the deal, period.
Of course a desk-job doesn't boost your ego as much as the red carpet, lady. Gotta make a choice!

How would you like your kid to be yelled at by the paps-- have them called by their personal names, being asked to smile or engage in some response? Yew! The nice ones would be even worst--pedophilia, anyone? Vera conveniently leaves out the quote where Michelle says that she is particularly enraged at female photographers because she thinks they should be protective of mothers. I agree with her....how many d--n photos do you need of her with a cup of coffee in one hand and her daughter in the other? Where is the news story in that?

Vera (a mother of 2 young kids) could lead the way by not posting pap pictures of celebrity kids and only buying posed shots from legitimate interviews. But she won't; she tries to defend herself as a "positive" blogger but she supports the gutter paps like all the others.

I can't believe anyone would think celebs deserve the harassment because they're rich and famous. No, being famous does not mean anyone should have to live in a fishbowl. Have you not seen how abusive the paps are? They call out obscene names, they jump in front of your car, they do whatever they can to get an angry reaction....doesn't that sell more pics? Very sad. I agree that it will take all the bloggers and media to stop buying these pics before any changes are made. As long as these parasites (the paps) can make a hundred thousand for getting a star to attack them or cuss at them, they'll keep on doing it. It's a very sad state of our society when this type of thing poses as entertainment for the rest of us.

She can still act and stay out of the limelight. She could do broadway plays, or even community plays. She has enough money now where she can retire from the big movies and just do quiet stuff for her 'stimulation'.

It would suck being followed... but maybe when you're receiving your 8 million dollar paychecks and oodles of freebies you'll get over it.

Do garbage men, janiters, house cleaners, and all the other 'crap' jobs, get tradeoffs like this? No...

If it was such an 'awful' job, with baggage, why are their millions of out of work actors auditioning every day.. They are all fighting for this 'awful' job.

I believe they should stop complaining so much. Most of the times the press and paps are the ones who make them famous.Sorry but lately all these stars say how much they want to get away and thinking about leaving the limelight and so on.Its all talk.Sorry but if it wasnt for Heath i dont think anyone would have been so much interested in her.

While I do think there should be some distance rules in place when it comes to children. All the rest of them I don't feel bad for, especially the ones who began carreers within the last five years of media mayhem. They know what they're getting into, and if they don't than they must have lived under a rock. I think its kind of messed up actually how these stars say things like "youre better than this" like photographers are second class or something, they're just trying to feed themselves and their families just like everybody else. It's an ugly trait of the rich and famous to forget about those of us that still have to look at price tags and decide between gas or food etc. The job market is dwindling, most people if they saw a celeb passing and found the opportunity for a pic that would fetch a price, they would do it. Why? cuz were not better, and we DO need the money.

Michelle Williams was a respected actress--NOT famous--until she and Health started dating. Both hated the pap intrusion on their personal lives. She wants to continue being a respected actress and does not need the pap publicity to do so. She can get jobs without being in the papers unlike some other "famous-for-nothing" celebs. There is no need for paps to continue to take pictures of her or her daughter (which ALWAYS reference Heath's passing or how much the little girl looks like him).

that last quote seriously makes me want to cry.. its so sad, even after all this time :(

She needs to move and/or give up acting if she doesn't like the intrusion. Sorry, but that's just the way I see it. I wouldn't want to be famous for anything!
