Ricky Martin Is A Single Dad To Twins

Singer Ricky Martin is the proud father of four-month-old twins, Matteo and Valentino, who were born via surrogate last August.Ricky introduces his sons in the new issue of People magazine.Ricky is currently at his home in Puerto Rico where he is adjusting to life with his babies. He doesn’t even have a nanny.

How hands-on are you as a father?
I don’t have a nanny. I’m
doing this on my own because I don’t want to miss a moment. I have a
personal assistant who helps me, someone who takes care of me while I’m
taking care of them, but I’m the one who changes the diapers, the one
that feeds them, the one that bathes them, the one that puts them to
sleep. For any parent, the first couple of months tend to get a little
bit intense."

Ricky explained that he chose to have children with a surrogate because it was "an intriguing and faster option" than adoption.Sounds like he was ready and eager for kids! And he knows his sons well.

Tell us about Valetino’s and Matteo’s personalities.
Valentino
loves to sleep. I call him ‘Mr. Peace and Love’ because he’s so chill
and serene. Matteo is more alert and active. He was up at 3 a.m. the
other night and just hanging!"

A single male celebrity has voluntarily chosen to forego the "fastlane" to parent twins.Did I miss the news bulletin that hell had frozen over? This is a guy after my own heart!

Nanny/no Nanny, gay/straight, man/woman, celebrity/average Joe – this is a parent who is in love with his children and that, you have to respect! There are so few people in this world who have children and give them the love and nurturing it takes to raise a healthy human being (and by healthy, I mean emotional/mental).
Sounds like he’s not only loving, but patient too. Anyone who’s been up at 3 a.m. with a newborn in the first couple of months knows how brutal it is and how much it can wear you down emotionally and physically to care for a human being on that level. He sounds like he has his stuff together. Those are some lucky babies! – Mandi

EXACTLY Mandi Lou – it’s obvious he is putting parenting FIRST.

  3. Rasclaat says:

yea mens biological clock is like 60 yrs, and womans is like 28-30 if they have them after that they cant or the kids are born retarded

  6. Anonymous says:

You have no clue, do you? Men can father children into their 80′s and some women into their late 40′s, early 50′s. The instances of having problems can go up with age but kids are born normal as well. They aren’t all born
    ‘retarded’ you retard!!

He didn’t forego the “fastlane”! Read what it actually says in the article. It says he went for surrogacy because it was an intriguing and faster option!!!!!

Not everyone is like Angelina Jolie who can just go shopping for kids as if she were in a supermarket.

  8. HOODWOOOD says:

That is total BS!! What planet are you from? Men do have that “instinct” only its not “Maternal” we have what is called a “Paternal” instinct. We like you have a strong bond with our Children and a strong desire to procreate. How we go about expressing that urge is quite different from a woman’s but is just as important if not more so, it is for this reason that Humans are so successful as a species

and he is so cute looking too ^^

awww…. the ability to give selflessly … rare for a guy….eventually everyone get tired of livin’ la vida loca .

  11. Sporky says:

    Cute babies!

Wow, wonder he used his sperm. I guess since he used a surrogate he probably did. Anyways, they are going to be super cute like their dad.
Wish him lots of luck and happiness.

  13. C.Mo says:

Using a surrogate doesn’t mean he used his sperm.

I love how celebrities brag when they don’t have a nanny. It’s not like he doesn’t have a personal chef, a housekeeper, a stylist, an assistant and a ton of other people doing things for him. I do give him props however because most celebrities do have nannies and that’s without being a single parent with twins. Those are going to be some seriously cute kids.

  15. switchstance5 says:

Haha this is kind of funny. Why couldn’t he just find himself a nice woman? Every child needs a mother and a father to grow up.

Hey, it’s not easy to find someone. What if you’re ready and can’t find that special woman or man????

  17. Frenger says:

    Because he is Gay…

  18. Masons Mommy says:

I doubt he is a “single father”. I’m sure he has a live in partner and since he is not ready to come out of the closet, he isn’t going to talk about the guy.

Cute babies though! Sounds like he loves them a lot!

  19. Anonymous says:

He may not have a nanny but I’m sure his manny (AKA boyfriend) helps. I love his boys’ names and they are all cuties including Ricky.

  20. Pogue Mahone says:

It just seems strange to me that a single man would want kids; I can see a single woman might, but why would a man? They don’t have that “maternal instinct” and “biological clock” thing like we do!

  21. Anonymous says:

That’s not true at all. There are many men who want kids. My husband said he would not marry me if I did not agree to have kids one day. So the fact that he is single does not make that any different. He wanted kids, so he had to do it by himself.

  22. C.Mo says:

That is such an old fashioned idea. A LOT of single men- gay or straight and gay couples chose to have children because they honestly have a strong desire to become a parent.

  23. Anonymous says:

Men do have a “biological clock” just like women…science has proven that.

    You’re so right!
Of course he is gay…and his personal assisant is his partner!
