Kate W and Cate B are both very good actresses. Once Julia Roberts broke out of the RomCom's, she showed she had a real talent as well.

And listen, as much as I love every Julia Roberts movie (okay, almost) she is not a "great" actress. Yes, I could watch her until the sun rises but she just isn't the same league as these other women.

I wouldn't say she's the BEST actress of our generation (has anyone forgotten classics like Julia Roberts??). But I can see why he's so partial to her since they created a legendary movie.

Julia IS a great actress!! Her fame eclipsed her talent long ago, which is unfortunate, since her range is actually really wide and she's exciting to watch on screen. I'll always have a spot in my heart for Julia, especially since she seems so unpretentious and NORMAL in real life. Anyway, I'd have to vote for the K/Cates: Winslett and Blanchett. Both are amazing talents who NEVER bore me.

Kate is fantastic and has a great range but yes I think of Cate B. I also agree about Natalie Portman she is pretty great in her roles..I also like Rachel Mc Adams but have never seen in her something that is a stretch to play..

Oh absolutely Kate and Leo hooked up during Titanic. I remember her saying in interviews that she adores Leo and would go anywhere and do anything for him. Then again, Scorpio men have that effect on women, sigh.
why does there always have to be someone who is "the best"? some actors are really good in some - or even most - of their films.
in american society (as in many others) people always want to make out a "winner" of some sort. or "the best". i guess that's the whole point of competition, but i still don't agree with it. it's oversimplification.
oh man, but there have been so many great performances by actors in the last years. impossible to pick only one as the best of all.

Julia Roberts is not of their generation and also not as good. Keira Knightley is a very bad actress and so is Natalie Portman. They are definitely not in the same league as the C/Kates. Kate Winslet is especially my fave, I have a special place in my heart for her.

Cate Blanchett, so great in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"
Cate Blanchett is easily the best of her generation followed closely by the incredible Kate Winslet! I feel Cate has a perfect balance of skill and depth and is my sole inspiration as an actress. Winslet is great too, it's just that she seems to rely on the same skills between characters whereas Blanchett really becomes a different person in mind, body & soul. They are both absolutely amazing in every other way though, both classy, both beautiful, and both great mums. Cheers to them both! :-)
