Dennis Quaid Settles For $750,000 From Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

This story still makes me shudder. A parent's worst nightmare to say the least. Thankfully, Dennis Quaid's twins were unharmed after they were given a massive overdose of the blood thinner Heparin. He and his wife Kimberly OBVIOUSLY sued Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and have agreed on a settlement of $750,000 which is currently pending a judge's approval.

"The settlement is the result of extensive negotiations between the
parties and their respective legal representatives, and is intended to
avoid the time, expense and uncertainty of litigation," say papers
filed in L.A. Superior Court on Monday.

What do you think about the figure? Too much? Or too little?

I'm glad there was a judgment against the hospital for the mistake. I hope that the drug manufacturer works on this mistake to fix it before any other babies get sick or die. That said, I think they should donate the settlement money to some charity in honor of their babies.

I agree that the money should be somehow donated.

Why should they donatae the money? Just because they're all ready rich? Dennis, his wife and babies are the ones who went thru hell. They deserve every penny!

Yeah, and maybe if they donate that money, they could save the lives of other babies...

I think it's fair. More importantly let hope that the drug manufacturer make some drastic changes.

I don't think its enough. They almost killed his babies and I think it is hard to put a price on that. I do agree that the money should have been donated.

First, there is no price to a baby's life.

But on the other side, if they were "regular" people, probably the hospital would get away with it.

They should donate it.

Did they sue the drug maker too for the labels? This has been an issue for awhile, the labels look too similar.

I think he should stick that money away for their college funds. Even actors go out of work and broke.

All I care about is that this doesn't happen again.

Were the babies really unharmed? I thought it was touch and go for a while. Sure no long term harm, but having to intervene in any way after an overdose seems like harm to me. Glad it's behind them now.
