Katie Holmes Hit The Big 3-0

Katie Holmes spent the afternoon of her 30th birthday going to the bakery with her daughter Suri yesterday in New York. I know Tom had a few things up his sleeve so I'm sure the actress had a great evening. People Magazine is reporting that Tom had a surprise birthday cake presented to Katie after her performance in All My Sons after the play was over. John Lithgow addressed the audience by saying,

"Tom Cruise, our good friend, devoted fan to the show, doting husband
of Katie, could not be here tonight. He's heartsick that he couldn't be
here ... but he wanted to make his presence felt. So, he's joining us,
inviting all of you, to celebrate Katie's birthday."

Then out came a 5-tiered birthday cake! Katie was very surprised and in a very soft voice thanked the audience,

"Thank you for coming out to the show tonight. It was a real pleasure." 

Then Suri came out and the mother-daughter team blew the candles out together. How very sweet!!

Tom Cruise couldn't take off from his busy schedule to attend his wife's birthday, ok living on one side of the mansion and her on the other is one thing, but hey, at least put in another fake appearance at your wife's b/day your film can't be that important, oh, I forgot, it is to you.
