Miley Cyrus Wants A Raise
I remember having these "discussions" with my parents when I was a teenager, but when you're a singer/actress who reportedly earned more than $25 million last year, it takes the discussions to a whole new level.
Miley Cyrus wants a raise in her allowance. Her parents take care of all regular expenses, and Miley is said to be given $100 a week for "incidentals." (The cost of incidentals must have gone up a lot since I was a teenager!)
Now that Miley is dating 20-year-old Justin Gaston, she is spending more money, so she wants to increase her allowance by $900, for a total amount of $1000 a week.
That sounds ridiculous until you remember: this teen earned more than $25 million last year.
What do you think: should Miley get a raise? Is she being given too much?

I cant see Miley's point of view since she has worked hard for her money. But just because she has a lot more then other kids doesn't mean she should get all of it. There are limits on money because she's at such a young age that she probably doesn't know how to handle it like her parents. They have been managing a family and a home for a lot longer then Miley has and know more about handling money and when to spend and when not to spend. One hundred dollars a week is MORE then enough for one girl.

That's a tough one. She's on the fast track to a totally materialistic life, so I suppose she might as well have it now. What I don't understand is the reasoning that she needs the extra money due to her relationship with Justin. He's an employed 20 year old, why the need for her to spend all that extra money to be with him? At any rate, I can only picture this girl as another child of excess. I would hope that her parents open her eyes to the less fortunate and that she'll use some of her money for life-saving good rather than impulse purchases.

They probably know she could get herself into some deep sh*t if she had access to a lot of money. For someone that young I would have to agree with the parents.
Ooooo...this could get ugly either way. She's 16, it's her money. Pretty sure she's been spoiled beyond recovery by now anyway & the $$$$ will no doubt only make it worse. But, if they start fighting over finances she could play the "emancipation card"..........glad I just have a dog!

overrated and overpaid imo....but it is her money...soooo if she requests more within reason they should give it to her...
This is just the beginning, either she'll throw a tantrum and get legal on her parents. Or as soon as she turns 18, she'll run amock...just like Britney. Money gives people so much power, especially someone so young.
I think as a young girl she should not be getting more a week than she is. Yes she's working hard but she also is just a child.
When I was 15 I got $50 a month because I didn't go out much. If i went out my parents would usually give me $20-30 for the night, what was not used I got to keep (it would be for the movies and such).
Now I'm 21 and I live in an apartment on my own and while my parents help me with rent (I'm a full time college student so they haven't required a job if i kept up my grades) I'm given 200 extra a week that I have to budget for food, utilities etc.
It's been hard for me to learn how to budget because I DO love to shop and go out with my friends and have a good time.
It'd be good for her NOW to learn to use what she's given currently and not ask for a raise unless absolutely necessary (like when we see her finally driving and she needs to be able to buy gas for her car).

Better question: Why in the world are they discussing this publicly? We don't care how much this child gets per week. I'm sure she spends a lot more than that.

Isn't it funny and crazy how we, the white people, can read and discuss each other w/o hardly a bad word? Even though this 20 y/o guy is dating a little girl that's only 16, that's beside the point. Wouldn't that be considered statutory rape for a "normal" person who does not possess all of the glitz and glamour? And who gives a kcuf about how much this little so-called "virgin" (Yeah, right. Miley's been kcufing probably since she was 12, or to become who she is now.) is getting for an allowance? Her dad is ONLY relevant because of her. you know why there are negative comments about Beyonce? because there are some white people who are closeted racist. It feels safe to be racist on the internet, I always see negative comments when it comes to black celebrities on INO. Not all white people are racist though, there are plenty of black people that are racist too. Anyway, this is about Miley and her money...I don't have money and she does. If only I could have half of what she has.

Yes there are racist people of every color but that doesn't mean all white ppl think they're better or all black ppl think they're better. Some do, and some understand that we're all PEOPLE. The color of your skin, money, etc really doesn't matter to most people.

Most americans make 30-50k per year and spend their hard earned money on trash like her, thus enriching her.

Perhaps, the allowance raised is being pressured by her bf? $100 usd a week is still a lot and enough to prevent her from being "spoiled".
I think she should get all of her money so she can spend it all on useless crap and end up broke.

ooo...this is just the tip of the iceeburg for little miss montana. if she does get the higher said allowence, things will get ugly (e.x. umm can anyone say spoiled? not that she isnt already...). if she doesnt get it, things could get ugly just the same (e.x. i can see the headlines now "Popstar rebels against parents; has the world from ages 5 to 11 behind her back" quickly followed by "kids rebel against parents and take over the world"). I think that they should give it to her.
She is getting older and, well, it is her money.
I dont think she should get all of it yet, but I don't think by giving her that thousand dollars they would be spoiling her.

I don't think she should get it. I mean I am 17 year old girl and get by with like 20 bucks a week give or take a few dollars. 100 dollars is plently for normal teenager stuff. Of course the 1000 she would get wouldn't be for buying normal teenage stuff, she would just buy useless matereialistic things that she doesn't need. Plus why does she need more money now since she has a boyfriend? Why isn't he paying for some things? Just because she is super rich doesn't mean he can't pay part of the time. Giving her more money would just make her more spolied. But in two year she will be once she gets a hold of all her money. I can't wait to see what happens. But supposly she signed a contract with her mom saying she won't move out of her house till she is 20. I wonder what will happen in the next few years.

Being that she is 16 now. i think she should get it. i mean not all of it, but $1000 per week like she asked. its not like she sits around and they are handing it to her. She does have to work for it. .. again.. dont give her all the money, but there isn't any reason they should restrict her to 100 per week. Maybe at age 12 or 13, but at 16-18, you start to learn work ethics. Who is to say she will or will not learn the value of a dollar.
