Queen Latifah Victim Of Theft
Queen Latifah is currently vacationing in Tobago (which is in the Caribbean). She was enjoying the comforts of a luxury villa in the $1,000-a-night Stone Haven Resort, but her vacation has been dampened with the theft of $10,000 worth of "sentimental" jewelry.
'Several searches are being carried out and the police are trying to
have the jewelry returned to Queen Latifah. Investigators said the
larceny seems to be an inside job and efforts are being made round the
clock to make a breakthrough,' acting police commissioner James
Philbert told the [media]."
I can see luxury resorts being targeted by thieves, but you rarely hear about workers actually committing the crimes (although it makes sense, sadly).
Queen Latifah reportedly may offer a reward for the return of her jewelry before she leaves the resort next Wednesday. I have a feeling she'll have to offer a reward after that report.
Hotels always offer safes but I NEVER use them. Stories like these make me think twice about that decision. Have any of you been the victim of theft while on vacation?
Who the hell takes $10,000 worth of jewels with them on vacation? specially "sentimental" jewels? please.

A wedding and engagement ring can get you nearly there. I have always used the safe. I have also forgotten to remove them, and had to have them shipped to me. I have also had clothes tried on and ruined by cleaning people at probably the most well known resort in the world. I still had reciepts, and they paid for it. The parts to the unworn garment were found in bits in front of a mirror when we came back to the room after it had been tried on by someone with a key to the room. Yuck. Makes me want to lock all my stuff now, clothes, makeup, etc.
For Queen Latifah 10000 might only be a few pieces. But I always use the safe. Most rooms have one. Why wouldn't anyone do the same?
I have never been a victim of theft because I'm not stupid enough to bring 10s of thousands of dollars worth of jewelleries or clothes esp if it's sentimental.

I always use the safe for valuables.. feel bad for Queen Latifah. You'd think that at a high end resort this wouldn't happen

Always use the safe as well. On a recent trip to Cuba I put my game boy in the safe but didnt think about putting the games there. The games got stolen lol Thats pretty much the first time Ive gotten anything stolen and Ive traveled to a lot of places. I learned my lesson tho and thankfully it wasnt an expensive one. I could live with losing games, wouldnt have been as happy had it been my passport or credit cards.
