Woman Sues LAPD For Forcing Her To Trick Paparazzi

Hmmmn... ok, let's take this one fact at a time.
A woman was asked by the LAPD to pretend she was Jamie Lynn Spears while attempting to get onto a flight out of LAX. This was done so the real Jamie Lynn could safely get into her seat without being photographed. Adessa Eskridge was escorted through baggage claim and through the photographer circle heads down and actually fooled the press. The woman was thanked and went on her way. Now Adessa is suing citing negligent infliction of emotional distress and false arrest.
Her laywer Chuck Vernon alleges 8 cops treated Adessa like she was being arrested and his client just can't shake the feeling.
Vernon says Eskridge has filed a claim for money with the City of L.A.,
a prelude to filing a lawsuit. Vernon says a City rep from Risk
Management contacted him yesterday. Vernon vows, if the claim is
rejected, Eskridge will file a lawsuit claiming false arrest and
negligent infliction of emotional distress.

I can't seem to get the video to come up, but I'll comment from what I've read of the situation. If the police failed to inform her of what was happening, or have her consent for participation, it was an idiotic blunder. On the other hand, she's probably suing for some huge amount of money because "she's emotionally scarred", and that's likely BS, unless she's an extremely fragile human being. I imagine she's looking for a quick payday. I suppose she'll get something, but I hope it will be reasonable. It'll be taxpayer money, it doesn't come out of thin air.

She has no case. I investigate claims for another government agency here in L.A. and had a similar claim which we summarily denied for being so frivolous. But who knows if L.A. City will throw her some money just to make her go away.
this is just ridiculous. when will courts stop wasting time of these frivolous lawsuits? i mean, they didn't force her to do anything. they asked her and she agreed. i don't know where the emotional distress is coming from. but, sporky you are right, they will throw TAXPAYERS money her way to shut her up.

Anonymous ~ yep, you'd be sick to your stomach if you knew how just how much taxpayer's money goes to make claims/cases like this go away. It makes ME sick sometimes!!

Money hungry (insert bad word here). You're welcome for my tax money (that I work VERY hard for), I hope your "emotional scars" heal up nice and good. (That is if you get it... which you probably will to just go away.)
I am thoroughly confused. I should sue!

I only say "yes", they have a case because taxpayer servants (LAPD) have NO business engaging in covert anti-picture taking activities for "celebrities"...not even the real ones. Geez, if she doesn't want her picture taken, let her hire her own people.
This F'ing sucks. Can anybody do another human a favor for FREE anymore?
What is with these people being so goddamn selfish and greedy. Lady, you helped the police now get the F*** out of here and be glad you helped. Ugh.

If the woman was asked for this and she agreed.. then her lawsuit will go nowhere. But if she was "taken" and was not explained why she was being followed by LAPD and paps then she has a claim. This woman cannot claim emotional distress and false arrest if she AGREED and was OK with it.
can't find the video
emotional distress??? please. If I was in that situation I'd be laughing my arse off for fooling the paps.

I'm more offended about the stunt the LAPD pulled than the woman who's suing. If I remember correctly Jamie Lynn didn't even go into the airport. She was let out on the tarmac and didn't come close to the paparrazzi. So I don't know what the point of the decoy was. If she was forced to or not told what was going on than she may have a case. Also settling is sometimes cheaper than fighting a lawsuit.
Why would she want a decoy? Is she pregnant again?
Ok I know that if it were me there would be very little 'emotional distress' in the situation...
I mean it's an experience, which makes a good story. But in these times that seems to lead to hideous and severe ongoing emotional problems which require monetary condolences.
But what irks me about this situation is that she was treated as being less than Spears.. why risk a celebrity when you can send a dispensable human drone?
