Oprah And Gwyneth Paltrow Talk Weight Loss

Oprah And Gwyneth Paltrow Talk Weight Loss

Are you on the first day of your new weight loss plan for 2009?  Both Oprah Winfrey and Gwyneth Paltrow are talking about losing weight.  Oprah discussed it on her TV show while Gwyneth shared her plan on her website, GOOP.

Oprah blames her weight gain on abusing food to handle an unbalanced life.

It's about using food – abusing food. Too much work. Not enough play. Not enough time to come down. Not enough time to really relax."

She plans to make time in her 14-hour day to exercise.  Life moves so fast these days; it really can be a challenge just to find the time.

Gwyneth, meanwhile, is dealing with seasonal weight gain (I'm sure some of you can relate!)

It is that time of year, folks. I need to lose a few pounds of holiday excess. Anyone else?"

She plans to shed the pounds with a detox.  Gwyneth utilizes the services of a detox diet specialist, and with that person's advice, created a seven-day detox plan that seems to consist of smoothies, soups, and chicken.

If you are not working with a diet detox specialist, then, as Gwyneth writes, "Make sure you check with your doctor before you start any detox."

Do any of you detox?  Or are you more like Oprah and go the diet and exercise route?

I totally agree: Oprah will always gain and lose. She obviously isn't one to model your eating and exercising habits after. And Gweneth: didn't she recently collapse from doing a cleanse? I feel like she could just skip dessert every day for a week and be back to a size 00. So here we have to likely unhealthy people diet-wise, yet what they say regarding weight loss affect us....

Gwyneth is so thin. Why does she need to loose weight? And as bad as this might sound I'm kind of tired of hearing about Oprah's ups and downs with weight. I really hope she stays healthy this time. It's crucial at this point in her life. It's harder to loose weight at 50.

Jena, you said it right! These are two really unhealthy role models as far as diet goes as it seems they both have eating disorders, just at different ends of the spectrum. I wish they would shut the hell up and go get some help without pontificating to others....then maybe they could get their collective sh^t together. That would set a better example.

ladies I agree with all of you. Oprah should not give anyone advice on healthy eating, weight loss or anything of the sort. She needs to stop blaming her issues with food on everything else but what really is! She is an emotional eater, due to her abuse as a child, she needs to get her mind healthy and then work on her weight. Oprah face the facts, I know what I'm talking about because I'm there now. Is been a rollercoaster for me due to emotional issues, I use food to deal with it. As for Gnyneth, please shut up!

detox is the most ridiculous and dangerous thing to do with your body. it's just wind-head-celeb talk with no scientific background nor approval.

I am so sick of hearing about weight loss. Both of these ladies have eating disorders and they need to work on that with therapists. This time of year is so annoying - there are more important things to worry about then which diet plan to torture yourself with after eating some extra dessert during the holidays (oh the horror!). How about just being healthy, active, and feeling beautiful without all the insane obsession.
