Cindy Crawford Has Banned Hannah Montana From Her House

Cindy Crawford Has Banned Hannah Montana From Her House

Not everyone loves Hannah MontanaCindy Crawford has banned the show from her house because she's afraid of the bad habits her daughter might pick up from Miley Cyrus' character.

"I love Hannah Montana, but she (daughter) learns to be sassy from that show.

I'll say to her, 'I don't let anyone talk to me like that. I'll certainly not take it from a seven year old in my own house.'"

And you know kids...when they start repeating things they've heard on TV or elsewhere, it can come back around to bite you.

Are you strict with what TV shows you permit in your house?

I babysat a little boy (6 years old) who was not allowed to watch "Spongebob Squarepants" because the show said, "Oh tartar sauce." His parents thought this was completely inappropriate.

Sponge Bob has some of the rudest and most inappropriate behavior. What is funny in some contexts is soo not funny when a 3 year old is saying/doing it.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

ok...Hannah Montana i understand, but Sponge Bob? Come on! I used to watch with my kinds Sponge Bob and I didn't find anything rude about it. Once we start banning shows like Sponge Bob, we become dictators. Sometimes you people amaze me

Anonymous Anonymous said:

We become dictators? No, we are trying to raise respectful children so that they become respectful adults. That's what's wrong with this world today. We don't raise our children, we just let them be and to "Heck" with the consequences!

Anonymous Anonymous said:

If you think "Oh tartar sauce." stays in the way of our children becoming respectful adults, then you have a big problem. We were raised with cats and mice smashing their heads and shooting each other and turned out to be respectful adults. Do you know why? Because we had good parents. TV is a very big influence, but parents have 99% influence in a child's life. I spend time with my children explaining the difference from wrong and right, I don't ban cartoons like Sponge Bob and Tom and Jerry.

I figure, I'd rather my kids say "tartar sauce" and "barnacles" (which they actually do from time to time) than the some of the alternatives...

I too think that's a bit harsh. I think it's a very cute show and all children will try to sass whether they see TV or not.

All kids don't try to sass. They do however, mimic what they see. Kids will be kids, but there is no reason to give them glamorized examples/portrayals of bad behavior.

GOOD! Maybe if more parents watched what their kids watched that little Ho would go back to the trailer park she came from.

I know it sounds harsh, but you'd be surprised the effect that show has on some kids. I had to stop my 8 year old daughter watching it for awhile. not because of language or anything, but because of this teenage attitude she was coming out with. She was spouting off one-liners from the show "ya can't fix ugly," (I know, kinda funny), saying nasty things to her big brother like Hannah says to hers, etc at the most inopportune and inappropriate times. It's cute and funny on the show, not so cute and funny at school in front of teacher. some younger kids (7,8) don't really get the difference.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Well I am glad some celebrities still have some sense and teach their children good values. I haven't watched the show a lot, but Miley/Hannah seems to have a smart mouth. I'm just glad she's taking notice of her daughter's behavior and how to make her a better person.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

i've watched Hannah Montana and i dont think it is geared towards 8 year olds. it is meant to be a comedy, so only children who are old enough to understand that sort of humor should be watching it - probably middle schoolers.

letitbe letitbe said:

So, silly. Kids will always pick up bad habits, whether it be watching a T.V. show or in school or even just hanging w/ friends. It's up to the parent to step in and correct the kids when they start to act up.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

i don`t think that thats the problem
but many stars have different opinions about the tv shows for their kids

I'm right there with Cindy. It's a cute little show, but I don't allow my little girl to watch Hannah Montana anymore. She can't quite grasp the concept of being sassy and loud the way Hannah is on the show, isn't cute.

It's starting to show some nice results. :D

Good for Cindy! My younger brother is 8 and he is very rarely allowed to watch the Disney Channel. I think that a lot of the shows reinforce images, stereotypes, and attitudes that aren't the best for younger children (or even some older children for that matter).

My cousin used to watch Sailor Moon years ago (anyone remember that show?) and my aunt cut her off because she was mimicking the characters on the show. There was a lot of yelling, whining, screaming, and occasional violence... pretty annoying.

We can't underestimate how television shows can influence children.

Cindy better go ahead and just ban TV because kids nowdays just pretty much think they can talk to adults any way they want. We are so worried about their "self esteem" that they all have "American Idol Syndrome" - that means - I think I can sing, but I suck and no one ever told me!

Way to go Cindy. Kids today need boundries and know that there's acceptable behavior and not acceptable behavior. Those of you who think it's cute? Do you have to put up with the sass? I'll bet you'd change your tune when you're the one being sassed or they do it in fron t of people, completely undermining your authority. That does not go away. And then those cute little kids turn into nasty out of control teenage monsters. And you wonder what's wrong with the youth of today. You have only yourselves to blame. And as far as Disney - They do nothing but pimp out young stars along with the parents who see nothing but the $$$. Recipe for disaster if you ask me.

I'm so glad to hear that a mom is doing her job! It is really hard these days to monitor everything your kids do but you have to start somewhere. You have to try to be involved and guide them through life. My son wants to watch The Simpsons and Family Guy. Why? Because they look like cartoons. He's 9 years old and he is starting to get smart enough to pick up on the "grown up" jokes in even the Nickelodeon shows. No way I'm letting him watch Family Guy. Maybe I'm a prude... but Family Guy crosses the line. Talking about gagging a woman, tying her up and stuffing her bra in her mouth? REALLY? This world sucks sometimes. SICK! And now you can pretty much find Family Guy on anytime.... not just primetime when the kiddies should be in bed.

This is a Nickelodian/Zoey 101 comment, but whatever. A few years ago, I was babysitting my cousin who was absolutley in love with that show, therefor I was forced against my will to watch it. So I'm sitting there, watching this show that I would never watch willingly, and this kid comes on screen--can't tell you which actor; curly hair, bad attitude, rich, I think--and he's wearing a 'One Night in Paris' shirt! It was only text, but I understood it completely, and, after I finished laughing, I was kind of mortified. It's a fricken kids show! I don't care if they don't understand it, the fact the producers or wardrobe people thought it was funny or appropriate is beyond me.

Right on Cindy Crawford! Too many Disney shows are way to cynical, sarcastic and jaded for young children. I mean all that is fine once you are a disappointed adult, but Not in tender youth. Pixars are the only ones I let my 6 yr old watch. The rest shows up right away in the disrespectful attitude. Shocking the first time your baby pops out with the'tude after watching one stupid show. Too many other great things for kids out there.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I feel sooooooooo relieved that I am not the only one to limit the Disney channel stuff, or even Sponge Bob stuff. My husband thought I was being a prude at times, when my 9 y/o girl and 11 y/o boy were younger. So, I let my guard down a little bit and so my daughter would watch Suite Life of Zach and Cody, and other Disney shows and boy, she has gotten extremely sassy. They are sassy on their own to some extent until you correct it, but the shows add more fuel. So, just the other day I did tell both of them they need to back off the shows, and I told them basically what comes in, comes out..they get it. so, no Hannah Montana, or other Disney shows for that matter. And, besides I also have a 3 y/o daughter in the house and could not stand the thought of her getting a glimpse of those shows if the two older ones were watching.

Way to go Cindy, keeping it real!

Lately, the only pictures we've seen of her have been frolicking across Europe with Rande and George Clooney, et al. How does Cindy monitor what her kids are doing at those times? I suspect she is getting bad press from these jaunts sans kids and now has to do a little PR to remind the world she is actually parenting those kids. I do agree with her on the Disney Boycott. My kids are 12/8/6 and the show presents parents as idiots, and the characters behavior toward them is horrible.

When my 7-year-old (soon to be 8...where does the time go?) started acting like Sharpay after watching HSM, I had to sit her down and explain that the way Miley, Sharpay, Carly, etc etc etc all the sassy tween tv girls act on tv is not cute and it's not how good girls should act . :) We had a good conversation about tv characters and real vs tv and she got the message and even phased herself out of watching Hannah Montana herself. It's all in having open communication with your child, not just saying "you can't watch this show!" but explaining what makes that behavior not attractive or proper. You outright ban a kid from watching something, they're going to find a way to sneak it. My mom had a NO SIMPSONS, NO MTV ("because i said so" natch) ban, which still stands today in her house, and i made sure I watched it just to spite her. And anyways...kids at school are watching the same thing and acting the same sassy way. If she didn't pick it up on TV she'd pick it up at school...Just gotta stop it before it starts! That's my $0.02...

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I'm so glad she said that! Every kid I know who watches Disney & that show in particular are sooo very rude, sarcastic and "sassy," because they think that the whole thing is just funny. Pisses me off. My kids aren't watching that crap either.

My 5-year-old doesn't watch Hannah Montana. Not only do I think it's a horrible show, but she's frankly too young for it. I also don't like her watching Spongebob. Her favorite shows are Little Einsteins and Dora the Explorer. They may annoy me (Dora more than the Little Einsteins), but at least I know they're educational and won't teach her any disrespectful behavior. Little Einsteins has gotten her very interested in classical music and art!

U moms are acting really immature is miley the only bad person the man u all are taking worst than her all of your retarded children not suppose to be watching hannah montana people like you all discourages teens take it from some who knows there are so much other things they should be watching nickelodian has good shows eg.scobby doo it could be cool for them is not like if they would not know about all those things they are growing rememberwhen i was young i watched alot of lizzie mc guire episodes and nothing happened i just as normal as any other teenages. Movies is not just imitating it is learning just as how they pick up the negetive the the same they will pick up the positive. My brother is sevenand looked at blade several times he is very smart just be honest with them. and every thing turns out ok.cindy crawford is very dumb b cuz she keeps talking about miley as if she knows what her daughter's future holds if i was (tish i would have beaten her sooooo bad her mother would have felt it from her grave) thats a line from a movie.

Terriann, your response was painful to read. What are you, 8? Maybe you should stop watching TV, pull yourself away from gossip blogs and start paying more attention in school. Good to see a celeb ban that stuff. Most of my family doesn't understand why i ban HM and many other modern day "family" programs. I don't care. I can see past the cover of a book. These kids shows today are nothing but attitudes and sarcasm. Absolutely no moral lessons or respect being demonstrated. I was an 80s kid and my wife and I are raising a family full of kids that should have the opportunity we had. If you notice, the goodness of the 80s did not properly continue into the 90s. It came to a complete halt. Music and movies started to suffer and it became all about making money for corporations. This has become the mainstream of our culture. Now we have to become educated and protect our children from becoming a future wasteland. Yes, some people will say its people like us that are being too serious. But it is those people who live in denial and can't see what's going on around us. Didn't the last presidency teach anyone anything?

In the music and movie business we get nothing but trash these days.
