Are you one of the people who has heard of actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s website, GOOP, and wondered what it’s supposed to be about?Or just wondered what "GOOP" stands for?Ask no more: Gwyneth provides some answers.(And she even has a response for you critics out there, too.)
Gwyneth said she started the website as a way to influence people positively with all of the varied information she has accumulated through her "incredible, blessed, sometimes difficult, very lucky, very unique life."
I never really knew where I wanted it to go when I was starting it. I
just thought if I could affect one woman’s life positively who was
trying to do all the things I was doing, and I had one solution that
worked for me that might work for her, it was worth it to try and share
it."
She also explains what, exactly, GOOP stands for.
It is a nickname, like my name is G.P., so that is really where it came
from. And I wanted it to be a word that means nothing and could mean
anything."
Do you think Gwyneth succeeded?
And as for those of you who don’t like her website?(Yeah, I’ve read some of the comments.)
I think part of the problem is people get a hit of energy when they are
negative about something, and it is a very detrimental way for them to
get that hit of energy. They do not understand why they do not have a
happy life. That kind of stuff is just noise to me. I just feel sorry
for them."
Good for her!Do you agree? What do you think of GOOP?

please….gwyneth….just get over yourself already…
AMEN! So f-ing tired of seeing and hearing this woman! She needs to go live in her organic-detox-chemical free-plastic bubble and quit trying to spread the “Gospel according to Gwyneth”
I read some of it, it was okay but didn’t keep me coming back.
I find the tone and Gwyneth condescending. The nerve of this pampered Hollywood princes to feel she has the right to spread her wisdom. She has lead a very cloistered life. She has no idea what the average person has to go through. Pretentious pice of S h i t.
I wish the paprazzi would ask Gwyneth “how has your dad been lately?”
I don’t care to read her dribble.
I don’t think she knows how normal people live.
I think a lot of it comes down to her having too much time on her hands. I appreciate what she’s trying to do, but it comes off all wrong.
it’s definitely an interesting endeavor for a celebrity to try. but at least she isn’t helping something negative with her money.
Visit my fashion blog!
Surprisingly, I actually really like it. I didn’t think I would, but it’s readable and has some cute ideas and interesting posts. She does come off as condescending in these interviews sometimes, but the site doesn’t seem to have that tone.
I admit, I’ve subscribed.
I did subscribe to it for a couple of newsletters but then I unsubscribed. I find it boring. Pretty as much boring as the woman herself.
she can call the “negative energy” whatever she wants and feel better about herself in her make-believe world. she makes me nauseos. I can’t believe there’s anyone out there who wants to relate to her or cares what she thinks.
what does that mean?
Her father has passed away, so why would they ask her that? Not very nice.
Jezebel said it best: GOOP is POOP. She truly sound like she is so high and mighty. She has no idea how real people live. She has been insulated from reality because of her family money, not because she is so great. She should get over herself.
What the F*&K does that mean? What a silly thing to say! are you normal? man, your comment pis@!ed me off!
She bores me! Dribble indeed!
I love it, it’s very interesting. I’ve been a fan since it started.
Gwyneth is inspired and inspiring. Her intention is to communicate something positive to those that want to listen and to share the wisdom from a wide range of surrounding resources (something she obviously views as a gift to share). The intention is everything and if you find Goop insulting, ask yourself why you would feel negative and bitter in the face of someone wanting to do something lovely for the world. The reason will have everything to do with you and nothing to do with her.

What I find really funny about her critics is how they crap on about she doesn’t know about how an ‘average’ person when an statistically speaking an average person couldn’t physically blog etc… about celebrities because they are too busy starving without water.
*shrugs* I enjoy it. Which in part may be because I’m a poor broke uni student who wants to slim down and she posted a free detox plan (I personally refuse to try the Master Cleanse or the other ones where you live off powder) as well as free workouts. But that is just personal taste.
There isn’t much in this world that is for everyone. The lay out of her website is as easy to use as the Apple website. There is a music section where she displays playlists of professional musicians. That was fun to read, and got me into some music I may have never heard of. The detox is awesome, and yes free. There are so many diets online you have to pay for, so many diet books you have to pay for, but she gives a free plan. She also has some great recipes on the site, from world renowned chefs as well as friends. I think she has a great taste in clothing but it is a little depressing knowing I cannot afford the clothes she blogs about. Overall I completely respect her ideas and her drive and determination. Like I said, it’s not for everyone but certainly for those who have an open mind, like to cook, and appreciate healing words.

I don’t know why so many people are hating on her web site. I started reading it last night and I actually find it very helpful. She gives many useful style, beauty (make-up, skincare, hair care, etc.), and mental/physical health tips that really do work or seem very promising. Additionally, the tone she uses is most definitely not condescending. It might *seem* condescending because she speaks about/refers to many renowned people and/or places, but one must understand that this is her life, this is the norm for her, and her pure intention is to share the wonderful things she’s been blessed with with everyone else. If you don’t like her web site or do not agree with anything she’s written on it, it’s okay, just don’t read it–there’s no need to go around bad mouthing her when all she’s trying to do is share her knowledge.
WOW. It’s funny how every time she tries to adress the “critics” she just comes of MORE condescending and pompus than ever! When is this woman going to get hit by a bus?
I really enjoy GOOP. It’s full of interesting information presented in a very unique way and the website itself is visually appealing.
I think it’s really interesting, totally worth a read.
I will confess I have never really read it. I was curious and read part of it around Thanksgiving and that was it.
It is funny, once. I thought Goop was something Lainey made up at first, then I clicked it, wow. Gywenie is quite impressed with herself.
I love Goop! I subscribed to it like around her second or third newsletter and I was hooked. I’m glad it’s actually garnering attention in the blogs because I think it’s great that she is being so open about her own life– kinda like a celebrity blogger only much better because it’s inspirational rather than random stuff.
I LOVE GOOP! Have been on her mailing list for a few weeks now and love it! Great for the open-minded… not so great for those who prefer to stay in their ignorant little box. Check it out!
Gwyn wants to share with the little people …. how special
I find its tone condescending. i know I spelled that wrong but I am too lazy to spell check it.
soo. Everybody needs to have the same taste and like the same things and those that don’t aren’t happy and thrive off negative energy. I mean I haven’t seen her website so I don’t have an opinion on it either way, but I guess if I decided I didn’t like it I would be getting a hit off my detrimental energy. But at least I’d have Gwyneth Paltrow feeling sorry for me. Phew.
Gwyneth’s brain is GOOP
