"Our secret for staying warm was vodka. We had lots of good Lithuanian vodka. It was very good, so good that we drank a lot of it. I mean we were in the woods and it was freezing.
"You didn’t have to pretend you were cold because we were all shivering."

I wanna go see this movie just for the fact it was filmed in Lithuanian! My family is originally from there and I’ve always wanted to go to it to see how it is.
Good to know it’s cold there though if I do ever go!

When were they in Lithuania, I live in Estonia and the coldest it has gotten here (this winter) was probably -15 degrees of Celcius, but I’ve heard, that it aint good to drink alcohole against the cold.

  6. MonkeyMan says:

You’re right, Ele. Drinking alcohol makes you feel warmer because the alcohol dilates the blood vessels closest to your skin, when in actuality that causes you to lose body heat. So you may consciously think you’re warming up but your body is losing heat. Probably not good practice somewhere as cold as Lithuania…

Ah, it’s so cool to open a random link and see a famous person talking about your country. Even if alcohol is not one of my favorite topics, I’m glad someone out there knows where Lithuania is. (When I was in UK and said I’m from Lithuania, I was asked where that city is… doh)
And talking about drinking when cold, yep, that really helps to get rid of the freeze and feeling that your fingers are going to fall off. However, you DON’T have to get DRUNK. One sip (or shot) of vodka, whiskey, brandy or any other 40% liquor will help. Off course, it’s not recommended to use it too often. It’s better to dress up warmer.. ;)
