Awkward Near-Encounter For Exes Britney Spears & Justin Timberlake

This is one of the things about breaking up with someone.  We all know, anticipate, and dread those awkward "firsts" like running into your ex out in public, running into your ex on a date, when one of you (okay, your ex) starts dating someone else.

Then there are all those awkard moments you don't even think about, like, oh, running into your ex years later after you've suffered a very public "meltdown" when all you want is to eat some sushi in peace with your mom.

You have no idea what I'm talking about?  Well, Britney Spears knows exactly what I'm talking about.  She and her mother, Lynne, went out for some sushi at Yatai Asian Tapas Bar.  This place reportedly is not one of the "see and be seen" hotspots in LA, so Britney was probably just looking to enjoy some sushi with her mother.

Unfortunately, Britney's ex, Justin Timberlake, and his current girlfriend, Jessica Biel, also decided to enjoy some sushi that night.  At Yatai Asian Tapas Bar.  A bar described as "so small...like the size of a living room."

According to some reports,

"[Britney] didn't see them but [Justin and Jessica] saw her and immediately looked very uncomfortable."

And it got worse.

'Jessica and Justin looked to be slumping down in their seats to avoid [Spears]. She left 30 minutes later,' another source tells Us. 'Shortly afterward, Justin and Jessica got in their car and left.' "

I know the question you all have, which is the same one any of us would wonder if we found ourselves in a similar situation.  How did everyone look?

'Jessica looked gorgeous,' Spears 'didn't look the best, but she probably thought no one would see her, as this restaurant isn't usually a hot spot,' the onlooker tells Us."

Ouch!  But cut Britney some slack: who dresses up to go out with their mom?  Jessica was on a date!

LA sounds like one of those "small big towns."
