Lost's Matthew Fox Covers Details Magazine

It's almost here: the beginning of a new season of Lost!  Matthew Fox spoke to Details magazine in honor of the occasion for their January/February issue.  He's preparing himself for the end of this phenomenal series.

All of us knew that if the show was strung out indefinitely, it was
going to ruin the story. It's not like a doctor drama, where you have a
new case each week."

I completely agree; I suspect that now the writers know when the show is ending, they can structure the story in the best way possible.  But Matthew doesn't mind that Lost will come to an end in 2010.

'Personally, it's a relief,'
he says. 'I owe this show a great amount, and I think it's exceptionally
good . . . [but] I am looking forward to the freedom that comes with not
working on one project professionally.' "

It sounds like he appreciates the career opportunities that have come with starring on a hit show, but he wants to challenge himself with those career opportunities.  Makes sense, right?

Oh, tell me more! While he obviously can't do that, Matthew has begun making plans for his post-Lost life.  He's moving his family to Oregon.

'My major motivation is to be closer to family,' he explains. 'My
brother is there, my mother is there. We're hoping to break ground in
March, and it will be completed right around the time we're finishing
the last season of Lost, in March 2010. I really miss that kind
of wide-open space, and there's a big part of me that wants the kids to
live in that mountain air.' "

Sounds like he's keeping his kids (and himself) from the Hollywood life. I'm sure Oregon will be a more down-to-earth place for his family.
